COMMENT

1937年製、ミッドサイズカラトラバケースのオールドインターです。ステイブライト製。最初期の防水スクリューバック構造で、2つヅメが確認できます。ダイヤルはブラックギルト。インデックス、ミニッツ、スモールセコンドが下地出しの夜光無しモデルです。一段下がり、精緻な溝は造り込みが良く、シンプルなデザインの中にもIWCのモノづくりへの心意気を感じます。

ケースは素晴らしいコンディション。ラグやベゼルが立っており、迫力があります。小傷は少なく、当時のプロポーションが感じ取れる貴重な個体です。ダイヤルは全体に僅かなエイジングが現れています。プリントのレターは劣化が見られません。シルバーの針は発色良く残っています。古い機械ですが、弊社にて分解掃除済みで好調に動いているのを確認しております。

今でこそケースとラグがシームレスなものをカラトラバケースと形容していますが、PATEK PHILLIPEのカラトラバが生産されるよりも前、1920年代からIWCが産出していたという諸説があります。

This is an Old Inter from 1937 with a mid-sized Calatrava case, crafted by Staib. It features one of the earliest waterproof screw-back structures, with two case-back indentations visible. The dial is black gilt, with non-luminous indices, minute track, and sub-seconds. The subtle recesses and intricate grooves showcase meticulous craftsmanship within the simple design, reflecting IWC's dedication to precision.

The case is in fantastic condition, with prominent lugs and bezels, exuding a commanding presence. There are minimal scratches, allowing you to sense the proportions typical of that era. The dial exhibits slight aging overall, while the printed letters show no signs of degradation. The silver hands retain their vibrant color. Despite its age, it has been disassembled and cleaned by our experts and runs smoothly.

While modern Calatrava cases are often described as seamless, it's worth noting that IWC was producing such cases even before Patek Philippe's Calatrava series, with some theories dating back to the 1920s.
