国産ヴィンテージ時計の中でも人気の高いセイコークロノ、Ref.6139-6000です。通称ペプシベゼルと呼ばれる赤青のツートンカラーベゼルに、ダークブルーのダイヤルが組み合わされています。こちらは61クロノの最初期モデルです。 初期型は細かな点で後期型と異なっており、リューズが収まる部分に切り欠きが採用されています。 ダイヤルとケースバックの防水表記が「WATER RESISTANT」ではなく「WATER PROOF」となっています。「５ロゴ」は9時位置に配されています。リューズは引かずに回すことで、インナーベゼルを回転させることが可能です。国内市場向けのモデルで、曜日が日本語と英語の二カ国表記になっています。ケースはいかにも70年代らしい重厚なCラインケースを採用しています。

ケースは、大ぶりなカッティングをしたラグのエッジをよく残しています。小傷が少々見られますが、無骨なヴィンテージウォッチの印象にマッチします。ダメージを受けやすいベゼルに退色や傷が見当たりません。ベゼルの状態で時計の印象は大きく左右されますので、大きなポイントとなります。針はプリントの剥げが無く、きらりと光を反射します。

搭載されているCal.6139は当時では先進性のあった垂直クラッチ、コラムホイールを採用したキャリバーで、日本の技術力の高さを示しています。リューズのプッシュによる、日付、曜日、言語の切り替えが非常に画期的です。通称“61クロノ”と呼ばれる諏訪精工舎製の国産時計初となる名作自動巻きクロノグラフ時計です。

One of the most sought-after domestic vintage watches is the Seiko Chrono, Ref.6139-6000, commonly known as the "Pepsi Bezel" due to its red and blue two-tone color bezel paired with a dark blue dial. This is one of the earliest models of the 61 Chrono series. The early models differ from later ones in minor details, such as the presence of notches where the crown sits. The dial and case back bear the inscription "WATER PROOF" instead of "WATER RESISTANT," and the "5 logo" is positioned at 9 o'clock. By rotating the crown without pulling it out, you can adjust the inner bezel. This model, designed for the domestic market, features both Japanese and English day displays. The case adopts a robust C-line design typical of the 1970s.

The case retains well-defined edges on its lug with some minor scratches, matching the rugged impression of a vintage watch. There are no signs of discoloration or scratches on the bezel, which is prone to damage. The condition of the bezel significantly affects the watch's overall impression. The hands show no signs of print wear and reflect light beautifully.

The Cal.6139 movement, with its vertical clutch and column wheel, was quite advanced for its time, showcasing the high level of Japanese craftsmanship. The ability to switch between date, day, and language using the pushers on the crown was revolutionary. This masterpiece, produced by Suwa Seikosha, is the first domestically made automatic chronograph watch known as the "61 Chrono."
