ベルメイユと呼ばれるその素材は、母材の銀に20μの金メッキを施している。 銀を使うのは比重が重い素材で、適度な存在感を出す為と考えている。

厚み、大きさ、重さ、のバランスは時計を着ける上で大切な要素のひとつ。 あまり知られていないが、マストタンクのネジは、錆が出ないよう、金無垢素材が用いられている。 難点としては、厚めとはいえメッキを施されたケースはやはり劣化しやすい。

当店の製品では傷ついたケースは仕上げ直しているので、綺麗に使って頂ける。 また、長年の使用によってそれが剥がれたとしても、再度仕上げが可能だ。

ねじの圧力でヒビが入る事もあり、ここは劣化が起きやすく、割れている個体を見かけることが度々ある。 弊社ではこちらのパーツもストックしている。

この機械は20秒に一度しか針が動かず、歯車はたったの6個で非常にシンプルに作られている。 秒針のついた機械に比べて必要な消費電流は1/3以下で済む。 電池の消費がおさえられた機械は、作動時間が長く 電池交換後に作動する期間は2年半から3年と言われている。

クォーツの利点を存分に活かして極力シンプルに作られた機械は薄く、 デザインの制約を解き、カルティエらしさの演出に一役買っている。 不具合が起きやすいのは、オイルの差し過ぎ。 繊細なパーツの為、オイルが刃先に流れてしまうと、オイルの粘土で機械が止まってしまう事がある。

また、クオーツ時計全般に言えるが、非常に小さい力で作動している為、埃や入水の際の汚れにより止まる事が多々あるように感じる。 針表示のアナログクォーツクォーツ時計は磁力制御でモーターを回しているため、外部から強い磁力にさらされると止まってしまうのも、特徴である。
