COMMENT

1950年代のMINERVAです。ステンレス製のスクリューバック、ラウンドプッシュの防水ケースは一流メーカーのポテンシャルです。まだまだステンレスが高級だった時代、コストを掛けられない製品には真鍮にメッキをかけてケースを造っていました。ケースサイドと一体のラインを描くラグ、一段ステップしたベゼルは人気のデザインです。

ホワイトダイアルはきめ細やかな縦ヘアライン仕上げです。インデックスはルミナスのアラビアとバー。サークル状に文字盤の仕上げを変え強調させています。針は全て青焼きのもので、時分針にのみセンターにルムを配します。インダイアルは精緻なレコード盤のような溝が光を纏います。ダイアル外周のサークルラインには0.2秒単位の目盛りがあり、ヴィンテージテイストが感じられます。中央からインデックスライン、チャプターリング、ベゼル、そしてケース外周へと同心円の秀逸なデザインです。搭載ムーブメントは自社Cal.13.20です。

ケースは僅かな使用傷のみで、プロポーションが良いです。ステップベゼルの外周はフラットですので、正面から眺めた際のエッジの効いた真円シルエットは圧巻です。文字盤は若干の経年変化が確認できます。 年式を考慮すると状態は良い方で、夜光塗料は芳醇な色合いをしています。ブルースチールの針は色抜けが少なく、嬉しいポイントです。当店にて分解掃除済みで、パワーリザーブ46時間を確認しています。

1335の中でもツートンダイアルのものは初期型に分類されます。コストをかけた当時のものづくりが垣間見れる逸品です。

BRAND

自社内でムーブメントを生産する数少ないメーカーとして時計マニアには人気が高い。年間数千本生産する小規模のメーカーで、社員の数もオーナーも含めてわずか13人。工場の1階から３階でプレス、部品の組み立て旋盤、仕上げの作業が行われている。忙しい時期になると、村の住人である50から60人加わるという。そんな牧歌的なメーカーであったが、ある企業に買収され、社長のフレイ氏も退社してしまったという話である。

Presenting a MINERVA timepiece from the 1950s, characterized by a stainless steel screw-back case with round pushers, showcasing the potential of a top-tier manufacturer. In an era where stainless steel was considered a luxury material, cost constraints led some manufacturers to create cases using brass with a plated finish. The integrated lugs seamlessly flowing from the case side and a stepped bezel exhibit a popular design of the time.

The white dial features fine vertical hairline finishing, adorned with luminescent Arabic numerals and bar markers, creating a circle-shaped differentiation on the dial. The hands, all crafted in blued steel, feature luminescence only at the center of the hour and minute hands. The sub-dial resembles the intricate grooves of a vinyl record, reflecting light elegantly. The circular scale lines on the dial's periphery with 0.2-second increments add a vintage touch. The concentric design from the center to the index lines, chapter ring, bezel, and outer edge of the case is a remarkable design feature. Powering this timepiece is the in-house Cal.13.20 movement.

The case exhibits minimal signs of use, maintaining excellent proportions. The flat outer edge of the stepped bezel contributes to a captivating, sharp circular silhouette when viewed head-on. The dial shows slight signs of aging, considering its vintage, and the luminescent coating has developed a rich patina. The blue steel hands show minimal fading, adding to the overall charm. Having undergone disassembly and cleaning at our shop, the movement boasts a 46-hour power reserve.

This specific model with a two-tone dial is categorized as an early version among the 1335 series, showcasing the craftsmanship invested in its production during that era.

BRAND

Minerva, known for producing movements in-house, stands out as one of the few manufacturers in the watch industry. This small-scale company, with only 13 employees, including the owner, produces a few thousand watches annually. The entire production process, including pressing, assembling parts, turning, and finishing, takes place on the first to third floors of the factory. During busy periods, around 50 to 60 villagers join the production. While Minerva was once a picturesque manufacturer, it was eventually acquired by another company, and its president, Mr. Frey, resigned from the company.
