オメガのレジェンド、スピードマスターRef.105.012です。NASAの正式採用となり、「PROFESSIONAL」の名が文字盤に登場しています。この個体の希少なポイントはセントラル・ボワテ（CB=Centrale Boites）製ケースであること。ツイストラグは後年のものと比べ一筋エッジが多いことです。ステップダイアルやアプライドのΩロゴ等、最もメリハリの効いたスピードマスターと言えるでしょう。貴重なキャタピラブレス、アーカイブが付いています。

ケースは保管傷のみで、気になる損傷は見当たりません。ラグのCBケース特有のエッジは状態良く残っています。磨きが入ってしまうと消えてしまうので大切なポイントです。ベゼルは剥がれが少なく、ヤレた雰囲気がありません。ダイアルはルミナスが理想的なベージュカラーを見せています。ルーペで注視してわかるもので、着用する際には気にならないものです。その他、気になるようなダメージは見当たりません。当店にてオーバーホール済みで、パワーリザーブ48時間以上を計測しています。ビデオを掲載しています。

Ref.105.003からのアップグレードは、リュウズガードのためケースが左右非対称に、ラグがツイストしたデザインになりました。Ref.145.022との違いとしては文字盤のΩがアップライトでムーブメントにはcal.321が用いられていることです。Cal.321は後のCal.861のカム式と違い、ピラーホイール式のため、コスト高で、チラネジテンプに巻き上げヒゲと高級仕様です。これこそがスピードマスターです。

今でこそ「Speedmasterイコール宇宙」という図式がすぐに浮かび上がりますが、当時は宇宙とは全く関係のない、純粋なモータースポーツ用の時計として誕生。また、スピードマスターは、ダイヤルではなく外周ベゼルにタキメーターを表示した世界で初めての時計と言われています。1959年、スピードマスターはマイナーチェンジをします。ベゼルがアルミニウムの黒色ベースとなり、針の形状がアロー針からアルファ針に変更されたことで、より視認性が高まっています。NASAは宇宙での過酷な環境にも耐えうる丈夫なクロノグラフを探しており、名だたる強豪に勝ったスピードマスターを公式時計として採用。その後1969年人類初の月面着陸の際、スピードマスターを着用していたことは有名な話。

Here we have the legendary Omega Speedmaster Ref.105.012. It gained NASA's official approval, as indicated by the "PROFESSIONAL" label on the dial. A rare feature of this piece is its Centrale Boites (CB) case, characterized by more pronounced edges on the twisted lugs compared to later models. With its stepped dial and applied Ω logo, it's arguably one of the most distinctive Speedmasters. It comes with the valuable Caterpillar bracelet and archival documentation.

The case shows only minor storage marks, with no noticeable damage. The distinctive edges of the CB case on the lugs are well-preserved, a crucial detail often lost with polishing. The bezel has minimal signs of wear, retaining its original allure. The dial exhibits an ideal beige hue for the luminescent material. Any imperfections are imperceptible without close inspection, making it unnoticeable during wear. There are no other significant damages to note. It has been overhauled at our store, with a power reserve of over 48 hours measured. A video is available for viewing.

The upgrade from the Ref.105.003 introduced asymmetry due to the addition of crown guards, with twisted lugs. Unlike the later Cal.861, the movement used here is the Cal.321, featuring a pillar-wheel design, making it more luxurious and costly with its swan neck regulator and winding beard. This is the essence of the Speedmaster.

BRAND

While today the phrase "Speedmaster equals space" is immediately conjured, it was originally conceived as a pure motorsports watch with no ties to space. Additionally, the Speedmaster is renowned for being the first watch to display a tachymeter on the external bezel rather than the dial. In 1959, it underwent a minor change, transitioning to an aluminum black base for the bezel and changing the shape of the hands from arrow to alpha, enhancing visibility. NASA sought a robust chronograph capable of withstanding the harsh conditions of space, and the Speedmaster triumphed over formidable competitors to become the official watch. The famous tale of the Speedmaster being worn during the first moon landing in 1969 further solidified its status.
