OMEGA SPEEDMASTER Ref.105.003

COMMENT

オメガのレジェンド、スピードマスターRef.105.003です。１世代前のRef.2998との違いは、時分針がアルファからバータイプに。後のRef.145.012との違いは、リューズガードが無くラグがストレートで、無骨な雰囲気のケース形状をしています。搭載ムーブメントCal.321。ピラーホイール式のため、コスト高で、チラネジテンプに巻き上げヒゲと高級仕様です。ブレスレットは同年式のフォースナーを装備しており、アストロスタイルです。アーカイブが付属します。

ベゼルは写真の通り小傷がありますが、フェード感が良い雰囲気です。ケースは大きな打痕などみられず、プロポーションが良いです。ダイヤルは傷がみられず、良い状態を維持しています。夜光塗料は最高のベージュ焼けです。Ref.105.003でルミナスの色味が良い個体は少ない為、大きなアドバンテージとなります。弊社にて分解掃除済みで、パワーリザーブ42時間を確認しています。ビデオを掲載しています。

Ref.105.003は、スピードマスターの歴史の中で特別な存在です。 1964年に厳格なNASAテストを受け、最終的に1965年3月1日に承認されました。ジェミニミッションで宇宙飛行士たちに選ばれた時計でもあったため、その中の一人「エドホワイト」のニックネームになりました。

今でこそ「Speedmasterイコール宇宙」という図式がすぐに浮かび上がりますが、当時は宇宙とは全く関係のない、純粋なモータースポーツ用の時計として誕生。また、スピードマスターは、ダイヤルではなく外周ベゼルにタキメーターを表示した世界で初めての時計と言われています。1959年、スピードマスターはマイナーチェンジをします。ベゼルがアルミニウムの黒色ベースとなり、針の形状がアロー針からアルファ針に変更されたことで、より視認性が高まっています。NASAは宇宙での過酷な環境にも耐えうる丈夫なクロノグラフを探しており、名だたる強豪に勝ったスピードマスターを公式時計として採用。その後1969年人類初の月面着陸の際、スピードマスターを着用していたことは有名な話。

This is the Omega legend, the Speedmaster Ref.105.003. The differences from the previous generation Ref.2998 include a change in the hour and minute hands from alpha to baton type. In contrast to the later Ref.145.012, it lacks crown guards, has straight lugs, and features a rugged case shape. It houses the Cal.321 movement, known for its pillar wheel construction, which is more costly and features a chronometer-grade escapement. It comes with a bracelet from the same year, the Favre-Forster, in an Astro-style design. Archive included.

The bezel shows minor scratches as shown in the photos, but it adds to the vintage feel with a nice faded appearance. The case is free from significant dents, maintaining excellent proportions. The dial is in great condition with no visible scratches. The luminous material has achieved a superb beige patina. Given the rarity of Ref.105.003 models with good luminous material, this is a significant advantage. It has been disassembled and cleaned by us, with a confirmed power reserve of 42 hours. The Ref.105.003 holds a special place in the history of the Speedmaster. It underwent rigorous NASA testing in 1964 and was finally approved on March 1, 1965. It was chosen by astronauts for Gemini missions, earning it the nickname "Ed White" after one of them.

BRAND

While today the equation "Speedmaster equals space" immediately comes to mind, in its early days, it was born as a pure motorsports watch with no connection to space. Additionally, the Speedmaster is renowned as the first watch to display a tachymeter on the external bezel rather than the dial. In 1959, it underwent a minor change, transitioning to an aluminum black base for the bezel and changing the shape of the hands from arrow to alpha, enhancing visibility. NASA sought a robust chronograph capable of withstanding the harsh conditions of space, and the Speedmaster triumphed over formidable competitors to become the official watch. The famous tale of the Speedmaster being worn during the first moon landing in 1969 further solidified its status.
