語りつくされた名作、いわゆる植村ダイバーです。左右非対称のケースフォルムが特徴で、リューズガード部分を大きく張り出させた独特のデザインが魅力です。リューズには当時らしい簡易ロック機構を備えており、実用性を意識した設計が感じられます。

この個体の価値を高めているのは、傷が入りやすいベゼルの良好な保存状態、ケースエッジの立ち方、そして夜光が黒ずまずに自然な色調を保っている点の三つです。夜光塗料の色味が美しく整い、全体として素晴らしいコンディションです。ケースバック側のラグに小さな打痕が見られますが、着用時にはほとんど気にならない箇所です。弊社にて分解清掃済みです。

ムーブメントはCal.6105Aにハック機能を追加した6105Bを搭載しています。当店での整備後、日差は＋15秒、パワーリザーブは48時間を確認しています。ダイバーズウォッチとして耐水性を備えたモデルではありますが、リューズが当時のオリジナルのため、防水性は基本的にないものとしてご使用いただくのが安心です。

1960年代は機械式腕時計が完成期を迎えた時代で、セイコーは精度コンクール、そして量産技術の両面で世界に追いつき、追い抜くほどの躍進を遂げました。同時に時計の電子化が進み、1969年12月にはセイコーが世界初のクオーツ腕時計を発表。機械式からクオーツへと時代が大きく転換していく、歴史的な局面でした。

COMMENT

This piece is the well-known “Uemura Diver,” a model celebrated and discussed extensively over the years. Its defining feature is the asymmetrical case shape, with a boldly protruding crown guard that gives the watch its unmistakable character. The crown features a simple locking mechanism typical of the era, reflecting Seiko’s emphasis on practical, functional design.

Three elements in particular elevate the value of this example: the remarkably well-preserved bezel—an area especially susceptible to wear—the sharpness retained in the case edges, and the natural, even aging of the luminous material without dark staining. The lume has mellowed into an attractive tone, contributing to the watch’s overall excellent condition. A small ding is visible on one of the lugs on the caseback side, though it is barely noticeable when worn. Fully serviced by our watchmaker.

This model is equipped with the Cal.6105B, an upgraded version of the 6105A with an added hacking function. After servicing at our workshop, we confirmed a daily rate of +15 seconds and a power reserve of 48 hours. Although this is a diver’s watch originally designed with water resistance, the crown is the original vintage component; therefore, we recommend treating the watch as non-water-resistant for practical use.

The 1960s marked the pinnacle of mechanical wristwatch development, and during this era Seiko advanced rapidly—achieving world-class performance in both accuracy competitions and mass-production technology. At the same time, the shift toward electronic timekeeping accelerated, culminating in 1969 when Seiko introduced the world’s first quartz wristwatch. It was a pivotal moment in history, marking the major transition from mechanical to quartz timekeeping.
