グランドセイコー・スペシャルのデイデイトモデル6156シリーズ。Ref.6156-8040は、当時の最高級機であるスーペリア3883-7000を彷彿とさせるケースデザインを持ち、薄型の専用ブレスレットも秀逸な造形です。ダイヤルはシルバーのサンドブラスト仕上げで、バーインデックスとバーハンドを組み合わせたシンプルかつ洗練されたフェイス。針やインデックスには多面カットが施され、視認性と質感を両立させています。カレンダー表示は日本語／英語の切替式となっています。

ケースやブレスレットは軽快で、腕なじみの良いフィット感をもたらします。針やレターは細身に仕上げられ、特別仕様である「SPECIAL」の名にふさわしい品格を備えています。GSロゴはゴールドで統一され、標準モデル6145との差別化が図られています。弊社にて分解清掃済みです。

1974年8月にのみ製造されたとされる希少モデルで、メカニカルのグランドセイコーとしては1970年代の最終期にあたる1本です。ザラつきのあるシルバーダイヤルが特別感を際立たせ、ステータス性を求める時代背景を反映した存在ともいえるでしょう。GS規格をさらに上回るスペシャル規格をクリアした、まさに実力と格式を兼ね備えた名機です。

The Grand Seiko “Special” Day-Date model from the 6156 series. Reference 6156-8040 features a case design reminiscent of the top-of-the-line Superior 3883-7000 of the era, and is paired with a uniquely thin and elegantly sculpted bracelet. The dial is finished in a silver sandblasted texture, offering a refined and understated appearance with its combination of bar indexes and bar hands. Both hands and indexes are multi-faceted, striking a fine balance between legibility and refined texture. The calendar display is bilingual, allowing toggling between Japanese and English.

The case and bracelet wear lightly on the wrist, providing an exceptionally comfortable fit. The slim profiles of the hands and lettering add to the dignified impression befitting a “Special” designation. The GS logo is rendered entirely in gold, distinguishing it clearly from the standard 6145 model. The watch has been disassembled and cleaned by our team.

This rare reference was reportedly produced only in August 1974, representing one of the final mechanical Grand Seiko models of the 1970s. The silver dial’s textured finish adds a heightened sense of exclusivity, reflecting the era’s pursuit of status and precision.
