COMMENT

オメガにおけるダイバーズウォッチの最重要機種、シーマスター300。ケースはツイストラグを備え、ベークライトベゼルはRef.165.024の中でも最も古いMK1で、スリムなフォントが特徴的です。ブラックマットダイヤルは、スポーツモデルに多く見られるマットな抜き文字、いわゆるギルトを採用。ノンデイト仕様によるシンメトリーなフェイスが、このモデルの魅力を際立たせています。ブロードアロー分針が組み合わされているのも、本個体ならではの特徴です。アーカイブが付属します。

ケースはツイストラグのエッジがしっかりと残り、良好なコンディションを維持。ベークライトベゼルには傷が散見されますが、割れはありません。ダイヤルは全面に均一な経年変化が現れ、ダイヤル、針、ベゼルのトリチウムは黒みを帯びつつもベージュの色味を保ち、味わい深い風合いを見せています。弊社にて分解掃除済みです。

ツイストラグといえばスピードマスターのイメージが強いですが、実はこのシーマスター300が先駆けて採用していました。本品は-63です。シーマスター300では、1963年から1965年までストレートラグとツイストラグのモデルが並行して製造され、1965年にストレートラグモデルが製造終了しました。スピードマスターにツイストラグが導入されたのは、1965年のRef.105.012から。つまり、本品はツイストラグを備えた最初のオメガスポーツモデルです。さらに、前機種 Ref.2913の象徴的なデザインであったブロードアロー分針をこのケースに搭載している過渡期ならではの組み合わせ、T表記のない「SWISS MADE」ダイヤル、最初期のスリムフォントベゼルなど、この-63ならではの専用意匠が揃っており、各パーツがオリジナルであることを示しています。オメガの歴史においても希少性が高く、コレクションとしての魅力も存分に備えた一本です。

オメガシーマスター300は防水性と高耐圧性、耐衝撃性などに特化したモデルとして1955年に誕生。潜水作業自体もその手法を模索している時代に、ダイビングのプロユースを前提として開発されています。たった一本のダイバーズウォッチから、永遠の時計史に残る「ムーンウォッチ」スピードマスターへと偉大な功績を受け継いでおり、その確立された技術力は今も多く語り継がれている名モデル。

COMMENT  

The Omega Seamaster 300, one of the most significant diver’s watches in the brand’s history, is presented here in its Ref. 165.024 configuration. This example features twisted lugs and an early Mk1 Bakelite bezel, distinguished by its slim font. The black matte dial adopts a gilt-style negative-relief printing technique commonly seen on sports models. Its no-date layout enhances the symmetry of the design, making it a particularly sought-after variation. Notably, it retains the broad arrow minute hand, a defining characteristic of early Seamaster 300 models. An Omega Extract from the Archives is included.

The case remains in excellent condition, with the crisp edges of the twisted lugs well-preserved. The Bakelite bezel shows some surface wear but is free from cracks. The dial exhibits even patina throughout, and the tritium elements on the dial, hands, and bezel have darkened while retaining a warm beige hue, showcasing an appealing aging process. The watch has been fully serviced in-house.

Some may find this piece intriguing—this particular example dates back to 1963. While the straight-lug Seamaster 300 continued production until around 1965, it is notable that the introduction of the first twisted-lug Speedmaster, the Ref. 105.012, did not occur until 1965. Today, features like crown guards and twisted lugs are closely associated with the Speedmaster, yet they appeared first on the Seamaster 300. This -63 variant remains unique, featuring model-specific details such as the broad arrow minute hand, a “SWISS MADE” dial without the T marking, and the earliest slim-font bezel. A truly rare and historically significant Omega timepiece.

During a time when diving techniques were still evolving, the model was created with professional diving use in mind. From this single diver's watch, Omega’s legacy would go on to influence the legendary "Moonwatch" Speedmaster, a timepiece whose groundbreaking achievements in watchmaking are still celebrated today.
