COMMENT

シルバーのサンレイダイヤルに、外周がグレーで縁取られたデザイン。ダイヤル中央から各インデックスへ向かって細いラインが伸びており、12時位置に上下の向きを明確にするための大きめのポインターが配置されています。外周はミニッツレイルが設けられ、ベゼル寄りはグレーのラインが加えられています。針はドーフィンハンドで、中央に夜光塗料がしっかりと施され、インデックスに夜光塗料が塗布されています。3、6、9、12時位置は少し幅広に描かれ、視認性の向上に貢献しています。

ケースは使用傷のみで、清潔感のあるコンディションです。ラグ周辺に目立つ傷が見られず、裏蓋の刻印が明瞭に残っており好印象です。ダイヤルはエイジングによりわずかな黒ずみが見られるものの、ヴィンテージらしい表情を見せています。針は傷がなく、光を美しく反射する状態を維持。針およびインデックスの夜光塗料は全体的にベージュやクリーム色に変化しており、温かみのある落ち着いた雰囲気です。弊社にて分解清掃済みです。

1960年代前半のごく短い期間にのみ製造された、セイコーのアウトドアモデル「チャンピオン アルピニスト」。適度なエイジングにより、クラシカルで品のある表情が魅力の一本です。

1960年代は、機械式腕時計は完成期とも言えるほどの発展を遂げた時期で、セイコーは精度コンクールの分野でも量産の分野でも、世界に追いつき、追いぬいた時代であった。同時に、「時計の電子化」が進展し、1969（昭和44）年12月にセイコーが世界初のクオーツ（水晶）腕時計を発売することにより、機械式腕時計からクオーツ腕時計へと大きく舵を切ろうとする時期でもあった。

COMMENT

The watch features a silver sunburst dial with a grey outer ring framing the perimeter. Fine lines extend from the center of the dial toward each index, and a larger pointer at 12 o’clock clearly indicates the upright orientation of the watch. A minute track is placed along the outer edge of the dial, complemented by an additional grey line closer to the bezel.

The hands are dauphine-style, with luminous material neatly applied at the center, and the hour markers are also filled with lume. The markers at 3, 6, 9, and 12 o’clock are slightly wider, enhancing legibility.

The case shows only light signs of use and remains in a clean, well-preserved condition. There are no noticeable marks around the lugs, and the case back engravings are clearly visible, which leaves a very positive impression.

The dial shows minor darkening due to aging, giving it a characteristic vintage appearance. The hands are free of damage and retain a beautiful reflective finish. The luminous material on both the hands and indices has aged evenly to beige and cream tones, creating a warm and calm overall look. watch has been fully serviced (disassembled and cleaned) by our workshop.

This is the Seiko “Champion Alpinist,” an outdoor model produced only for a very short period in the early 1960s. With its balanced aging and refined presence, it is a highly attractive example with a classic and elegant character.
