COMMENT

ロレックスオーキッド、20年近く製造された名品カメレオン。1950年に製造されたこのモデルは、ギョシェ仕上げのダイヤルが特徴で、角度によってさまざまな表情を見せます。インデックスはドットが基本で、3, 6, 9時位置には4面のファセットが組み合わされ、どの角度から見ても光を反射します。針はアルファハンドで、夜光塗料を使用しないシンプルで洗練された仕上がりが魅力です。

ケースは傷が少なく、非常に良いコンディションです。ガラスには傷がなく、ダイヤルの美しい状態がしっかりと視認できます。ダイヤルはエイジングの影響で若干の色味の変化がありますが、それでも良い状態を保っています。針とインデックスはくすみが少なく、特に12時位置のロゴが美しく輝いています。弊社にて分解掃除済みです。

カメレオンの誕生は1950年代。裏蓋にベルトを通すための空間があり、そこにベルトを通すだけで簡単に交換できるようになっています。ロレックスは世界初の試みで特許を取得し、当時の広告に 「the only watch in the world with a WARDROBE（世界で唯一ワードローブを持つ時計）」と謳いました。

レディースロレックスを世に知らしめるきっかけとなった、歴史的アイコンウォッチ。第二次世界大戦が終結し、ニュールックスタイルなどレディースファッションに吹き込んだ新風に乗って、変化自在のカメレオンは当時の著名人に親しまれ、ヨーロッパを中心に女性に絶大な人気を博しました。

COMMENT

The Rolex Orchid, a celebrated chameleon model produced for nearly 20 years, is a true masterpiece. This 1950 model features a guilloché dial, creating a variety of expressions depending on the angle, adding to its charm. The indices are primarily dot-shaped, with the 3, 6, and 9 o'clock positions featuring four-faceted markers that reflect light beautifully from any angle. The hands are alpha-style, simple and sophisticated, with no luminescent coating, contributing to its understated elegance.

The case is in excellent condition with minimal signs of wear, and the glass remains free from scratches, allowing the beauty of the dial to be fully appreciated. While the dial shows slight aging with some color variation, it remains in great condition. The hands and indices show minimal patina, and the logo at the 12 o'clock position shines brightly. The watch has been disassembled and serviced by our workshop.

The Chameleon was born in the 1950s and introduced a unique design feature with a space in the case back to allow the strap to be easily swapped by simply threading it through. Rolex patented this world-first innovation and marketed it in ads claiming "the only watch in the world with a WARDROBE."

This historical icon is what made Rolex's ladies' watches famous. Following the end of World War II, with new fashion trends such as the "New Look," the versatile Chameleon became a favorite among notable personalities of the time. It gained tremendous popularity among women, especially in Europe, and became a staple of luxury for its ability to change with every occasion.
