すり鉢状のインナーリングに5分刻みのインデックスを配した、個性的な意匠のポールルーター。ブラックマットのダイヤルにはホワイトのラインやプリントが映え、控えめなドット状ミニッツや、中央に走るラインが絶妙なバランスを生み出しています。針はバーハンド、インデックスはダイヤル外周に彫り込まれたバーと、内周に配されたドット夜光という二層構造。さらにケースは、斜めに大胆に削ぎ落とされたような独特のラグシェイプを持ち、洗練された存在感を放ちます。

搭載ムーブメントは、ユニバーサル・ジュネーブが誇る「マイクロローター（MICROTOR）」式。自動巻きローターをムーブメント内部に埋め込むことで、全体の厚みを抑えつつもスクリューバックケースによる堅牢性を両立。エレガントなスタイルと実用性を兼ね備えた、当時としては革新的な構造です。

ケースはラグのエッジが際立ち、シャープなフォルムをしっかりと維持。上面・側面のヘアライン仕上げも美しく残されています。ダイヤルはエイジングが少なく、深いブラックカラーが良好に保たれています。針はごくわずかなくすみのみで、光を受けて美しく輝きます。針・インデックスの夜光塗料は、経年により温かみのあるベージュトーンに変化し、クラシカルな趣を添えています。弊社にて分解清掃済みです。

ポールルーターの誕生は、1950年代、スカンジナビア航空（SAS）による北極圏を越える長距離フライト計画に由来します。SASは、この過酷なルートに対応可能な耐磁・耐衝撃性を備えたパイロットウォッチの製作をユニバーサル・ジュネーブに依頼し、誕生したのがこのモデル。ツールウォッチとしての背景を持ちながら、デザインはどこか優雅で上品。この両立こそが、ポールルーターの最大の魅力です。

ユニバーサル・ジュネーブの歴史は二人の時計師、エミーユ・デコームとジョルジュ・ペレによって1894年スイスで創業されたところから始まる。高級感溢れるデザインウォッチや複雑時計の製造を得意とし、クロノグラフの名品＜コンパックス＞を開発したことで、その名を時計史に刻んだ名門のブランド。

COMMENT

This Universal Genève Polerouter features a distinctive design, highlighted by a concave inner minute ring marked at five-minute intervals. The matte black dial provides strong contrast for the white print, minute dots, and central vertical line—details that strike a refined balance between functionality and elegance. The hands are classic batons, while the hour markers are presented in two layers: engraved bar indices at the outer edge and luminous dots set within the inner section. The case itself features bold, angular lugs, sharply cut and uniquely sculpted to deliver a modernist presence.

Powering the watch is Universal Genève’s renowned MICROTOR movement, which integrates a micro-rotor into the movement itself. This innovative design allows for a slimmer profile while maintaining durability through a screw-back case—a remarkable engineering feat for its time, combining elegance and performance in one.

The case remains in excellent condition with sharply defined lugs and beautifully preserved satin finishes on the top and sides. The dial retains a deep, even black tone with minimal aging. The hands show only minor patina and retain their original luster. The lume on both hands and markers has aged gracefully to a warm beige, enhancing the watch’s vintage charm. The Polerouter was born in the 1950s, developed in collaboration with Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) for their pioneering polar flights.
