OMEGA Constellation Ref.168.010

COMMENT

COMMENT

The Omega Constellation, the flagship model, is a distinctive timepiece crafted in white gold with diamonds at 3, 6, 9, and 12 o'clock, signifying its special edition status. The dial stands out compared to other Constellation models, featuring an exceptionally fine vertical hairline finish that adds a subtle and sophisticated texture. In a unique design choice for this special edition, the dial's center is flat, and the index placement area is inclined, creating a distinctive appearance. A noteworthy feature is the unusually short length of the hands, a clear departure from the norm, showcasing Omega's playful spirit and confidence that influenced the watch industry during that era. All elements, including the slender indexes, contribute to an even greater sense of elegance. The round stainless steel case incorporates multi-faceted lugs, achieving a delicate balance between a well-defined form in the case and maintaining the dial's ambiance.

The case is in excellent condition, with minor scratches visible under a loupe but imperceptible to the naked eye. The accent of this watch, the multi-faceted cut of the lugs, remains beautifully preserved. The upright indexes, Omega logo, and hands reflect light strongly without any dullness.

Pairing the watch with a vividly colored strap, as shown in the images, enhances the brilliance of the diamonds, creating an avant-garde image. Switching to a black or brown strap can transform the watch into a smart and sophisticated impression, highlighting its surprisingly high versatility. As a flagship model from Omega's era emphasizing "accuracy as an absolute value" before the development of quartz watches, it boasts a reliable and high-precision Cal.564 movement.

Equipped with a high-precision Cal.564 movement that passed the Chronometer standards, the 550 series and later calibers evolved into smart and efficient mechanisms, minimizing unnecessary elements. This evolution allowed for a reduction in design constraints, resulting in a more stylish face. The watch's everyday usability is a compelling feature, and it is a timepiece that our store can confidently handle in terms of maintenance.

This generation of Omega's movements, known for their excellent automatic winding efficiency, rarely requires manual winding. The Constellation's original crown emphasizes design, and while manual winding might feel a bit cumbersome, it's part of the original specifications and poses no issue.
