CARTIER SM Colisee Belle Epoque Ref.805908C

COMMENT

COMMENT

Inspired by the circular shape of the Colosseum in Rome, the Colisee is said to embody this inspiration, particularly in its rare variant, the Colisee Belle Époque. The case is crafted from solid 18-karat gold. Housed within the round-form case is a dial with a simple layout. The combination of Roman indices and blue steel hands epitomizes Cartier's distinctive identity. The bracelet is designed exclusively for this model, adding a touch of glamour and uniqueness to the wrist.

The case shows minimal signs of use, with hardly any scratches, and the glass remains unblemished and pristine. The dial exhibits no noticeable blemishes, maintaining its original condition from the time it was created. The distinctive blue hands retain their deep blue hue without any fading. Having been disassembled and cleaned by our company, it is in good working condition for your use.

"Belle Époque" translates to "beautiful era" in French, referring to the period from the late 18th century to the outbreak of World War I, characterized by industrial revolution and flourishing consumer culture. It was a time of emergence for new artistic movements like Art Nouveau, which favored curved forms. From the case to the bracelet, the Colisee Belle Époque embodies this Art Nouveau style with its exclusively curved composition, reminiscent of organic shapes found in nature. With limited production numbers and scarce availability in the market, it stands as a rare model.

Although renowned today as a jeweler, Cartier was the first to venture into crafting authentic wristwatches back in 1904, at a time when pocket watches were still dominant.
