OMEGA Constellation Ref.168.027

COMMENT

HIGHLIGHT

C Line Case,   Linen Dial

COMMENT

The sophisticated barrel-shaped C-line case, designed by Gerald Genta around 1970, gives a refined impression. In comparison to the later models with a glass-type crystal, this early version features a dome-shaped crystal, offering a taste of vintage aesthetics. The case is stainless steel with a thick layer of gold, creating a luxurious gold top. The finely crafted fluted bezel exudes a sense of luxury, presenting the characteristic appearance of Omega's high-end models. The dial, resembling linen fabric, adds a refreshing texture to the Linen dial. The bar indices at the center position and pencil hands, both with black coating, contribute to excellent readability.

It is equipped with the high-precision Cal.564 movement that passed the chronometer standards. The calibers from the 550 series onwards transition towards a smart and well-constructed mechanism, minimizing waste. This allows for a reduction in design constraints, resulting in a more stylish face. Its everyday usability is a key charm.

While the case shows some minor scratches, it maintains a good proportion. The mirror-finished chamfering on the edges of the lugs is beautifully preserved. The dial is in mint condition. The subtle reflections unique to the Linen dial, combined with the fluted bezel, create an elegant and luxurious appeal. The black prints on the indices and hands, along with the mirror finish, show no signs of degradation, preserving the original appearance. It has been disassembled and cleaned by our company, and the daily deviation is approximately +5 seconds when placed flat. It is ready for use right after purchase.

Constellation, meaning a group of stars, represents Omega's pinnacle model that combines the highest precision and automatic winding. The intricate craftsmanship, which would incur significant costs in contemporary times, becomes especially attractive considering the current market prices for vintage watches.
