1954年に発表されて以来、ミッドセンチュリーウォッチとして今もなお多くの注目を浴びているポールルーター。すりばち状のインナーリングに5分刻みのインデックスを配置したデザインがアイコニックです。文字盤中心はサンレイ仕上げのブルーグレーダイヤルを採用しています。ケースは独自のシェイプで、ラグは斜めに大胆に削ぎ落としたような形状です。Henry & Cie社製のユニバーサル純正ブレスレットRef.1073が付属します。

搭載ムーブメントである自社製Cal.1-69は、「MICROTOR」と呼ばれる特殊な自動巻機構を備えています。自動巻の錘（ローター）を機械の上に配置するのではなく、小さいローターをベースムーブメントの中に埋め込むことで、薄くエレガントなデザインとスクリューバックの堅実なケースを実現しました。

ケースは半世紀以上経過しているとは思えないほど良好なコンディションです。小傷のみで大きな損傷はなく、ラグのエッジは鮮明です。純正竜頭はねじ込み式で、摩耗によりねじ込みができなくなっている個体が多いですが、こちらはねじ込みが可能です。インナーリングも良好な状態を保っています。グレーダイヤルには、この世代のカラーダイヤルに見られる塗料の剥がれがありません。ルミナスは素晴らしい色味の経年変化が見られます。分解掃除の様子も掲載しています。

ポールルーターの始まりは、SAS（スカンジナビア航空）が耐磁性を備えた堅牢な時計の製作をユニバーサル・ジュネーブに依頼したことからでした。当時、SASが計画していた北極を超える2600 kmの先駆的な飛行を称えるために、その名がつけられました。エレガントでありながら、ツールウォッチのルーツを持つこのRef.869119は、控えめな外装デザインと堅牢で信頼性の高い自動巻き内装の組み合わせにより、今日でも時計学の偉業として語り継がれています。

Since its debut in 1954, the Polerouter has continued to captivate enthusiasts as a quintessential mid-century watch. Its iconic design features a distinctive saucer-shaped inner ring with five-minute interval markers. The dial boasts a sunray-finished blue-gray center, and the case has a unique shape with sharply angled lugs. Accompanying this model is the original Universal bracelet, Ref. 1073, manufactured by Henry & Cie.

The watch is powered by the in-house Cal. 1-69 movement, notable for its "MICROTOR" automatic winding mechanism. Unlike traditional movements where the rotor is placed on top, the MICROTOR integrates a smaller rotor within the base movement, allowing for a slimmer, more elegant design while maintaining the robustness of a screw-back case.

The case is in excellent condition, with only minor scratches and no significant damage, retaining sharp lug edges. The original screw-down crown is still functional, a rarity as many vintage crowns suffer from thread wear. The inner ring is well-preserved, and the gray dial shows no signs of the common paint flaking seen in dials from this era. The luminous markers have aged beautifully. The Polerouter's inception came about when SAS (Scandinavian Airlines) requested Universal Genève to create a robust, anti-magnetic watch to commemorate their pioneering 2,600 km flight over the Arctic. The Polerouter, particularly this Ref. 869119, epitomizes the blend of elegance and tool-watch heritage, a testament to the watchmaking prowess of its time.
