ハミルトンのドクターウォッチ、セクロンです。14金張りのレクタングルケースに、ブラックのデュアルダイヤルとホワイトのバトンハンドが組み合わされています。製造時期は主に1935年から1941年頃で、初期は14金張り、後期には10金張りへと変更され、こちらは初期にあたります。ケースサイドにはアメリカンウォッチらしい装飾的なデザインが施されており、ケースバックは腕に沿うように湾曲しています。ブラックダイヤルはマットな質感で、すべての印字はホワイトプリントで仕上げられています。ダイヤルデザインはサークルと放射状のバーを組み合わせたセクターデザインで、アール・デコを感じさせる当時のスタイルを反映しています。

搭載ムーブメントは、ハミルトンの最もポピュラーなムーブメントの一つであるCal.980を、このモデル専用に改良したものです。独自の文字盤レイアウトを実現するために特別に調整されています。

ケースのエッジは多面カットがしっかりと残っており、当時のプロポーションを保った湾曲したケースバックは、腕に心地よくフィットします。致し方ないことではありますが、ケースのエッジは金メッキに剥がれが見られます。ダイヤルは経年変化がほとんど見られず、年式を考慮すると非常に良好な状態です。弊社にて分解掃除済みです。

この時代のレクタンギュラーモデルにおいて、自社製ムーブメントを搭載できたのは限られた高級メーカーに限られていました。ドクターウォッチは、大きなサブセコンドが特徴で、脈拍の計測など医師や看護師が時間測定を必要とする際に珍重された時計です。その実用性とデザインが融合した一品は、当時も今も高い評価を受けています。

COMMENT

The Hamilton "Doctor's Watch" Sekron is a striking piece with a 14k gold-filled rectangular case, complemented by a dual black dial and white baton hands. Produced primarily between 1935 and 1941, this example belongs to the earlier period when 14k gold filling was used before transitioning to 10k in later models. The case sides feature decorative elements characteristic of American watchmaking, while the curved case back is designed to fit snugly on the wrist. The black dial, with its matte finish, showcases white printed markers in a sector design combining circles and radial bars, reflecting the Art Deco style of the era.

The watch houses a modified version of Hamilton's popular Cal. 980 movement, specially adjusted for the unique dial layout of this model. This modification allowed for the distinct design, highlighting the large subsidiary seconds at the bottom of the dial.

The case retains its multi-faceted edges, preserving its original proportions, and the curved back enhances its comfort on the wrist. As expected with gold-filled watches from this period, some wear is visible on the edges, but overall, the condition is remarkable for its age. The dial shows minimal aging and remains in excellent condition, considering its vintage. The watch has been fully serviced by our team.

During this era, only a select number of high-end brands could offer rectangular models with in-house movements. The Sekron, known as the "Doctor's Watch," gained its name due to its oversized sub-seconds dial, which allowed physicians and nurses to measure pulse rates and track time with ease. Its blend of practicality and Art Deco design made it highly regarded then and now.
