COMMENT

グランドセイコー・スペシャルのデイトモデルである6155に対し、こちらはデイデイトモデルの6156シリーズです。スペシャル表記はより厳格な検定基準をクリアした機種にのみ付くもので、実質6145の上位機種にあたります。Ref.6156-8010はケースがステンレススチール製で、鏡面とヘアラインの仕上げが切り替えられた秀逸な意匠です。風防は珍しいカットガラスのタイプです。ダイアルはシルバーのサンレイ。バーインデックス×バーハンドのシンプルな組み合わせです。針やインデックスには多面カットが施され、しっかりとした読時を可能にしています。カレンダー表記は日本語/英語です。

ケースはサイドのエッジが保たれた良好なコンディションです。ラグ周りのヘアライン仕上げはしっかりと残っており、全体の造形をきれいに保っています。ダイヤルは大きな経年変化が見られず、アプライドのseikoロゴも美しく光を反射します。全体としてノンルミナス仕様のため、すっきりとした端正な印象です。針にわずかなくすみが見られますが、目立つほどではなく、全体の雰囲気を損なわない程度に収まっています。弊社にて分解清掃済みです。

諏訪精工舎と第二精工舎（亀戸）はそれぞれの製品開発を通して、お互いを高めあっていました。その中で生まれた自動巻き61GSは諏訪精工舎、手巻きの45GSは第二精工舎において開発されました。手巻きで競われる天文台クロノメーターコンクールに出場した45GSは好成績を収め、天文台クロノメーターモデルとして市販するまでに至りました。この偉業はコンクール自体を中止に追い込む歴史的な大事件に発展します。

COMMENT

While the 6155 is the date model within the Grand Seiko Special line, this example belongs to the 6156 series, which features a day-date display. The “Special” designation was given only to models that passed more stringent inspection standards, placing it effectively above the 6145. The Ref.6156-8010 features a stainless steel case with an excellent exterior design, alternating between polished and brushed finishes. It is also fitted with the uncommon cut-glass crystal. The dial is finished in silver sunburst, with a simple and refined combination of baton indexes and baton hands. Both the hands and indexes are multi-faceted, providing clear legibility. The calendar display is in Japanese and English.

The case remains in good condition, with the edges along the case sides well preserved. The brushed finish around the lugs also remains clearly visible, maintaining the clean form of the case. The dial shows no major age-related change, and the applied SEIKO logo reflects the light beautifully. As a non-luminous model, the watch has a clean and composed appearance overall. There is slight dullness to the hands, but it is not strongly noticeable and does not detract from the overall impression. Fully serviced by our watchmaker.

Through their respective product development, Suwa Seikosha and Daini Seikosha, also known as Kameido, pushed one another to ever higher standards. Within this environment, the automatic 61GS was developed by Suwa Seikosha, while the hand-wound 45GS was developed by Daini Seikosha. The 45GS achieved excellent results in observatory chronometer competitions, which were contested with hand-wound movements, eventually leading to the commercial release of observatory chronometer models. This achievement became a historically significant event that ultimately contributed to the discontinuation of the competitions themselves.
