セイコーが誇る「グランドセイコー」のセカンドモデルは、ファーストモデルの実績を踏まえ、実用性をいっそう高めた一級品です。1964年に登場した本作は、カレンダー機能の追加に加え、防水性の向上を意識したスクリューバックケースを採用。国産時計の最上位機として、性能と耐久性の両面で当時のスイス製品に迫る完成度を備えています。ケースシリアルを「57」から始めている点も、型番との整合が美しく、初期個体ならではの魅力です。

多面カットのドーフィンハンドとバーインデックスは、シルバーのサンレイダイヤルと調和し、フォーマルな装いにも自然に馴染みます。太いラグと肉厚なケースが生む重厚なプロポーションは、耐久性を意識した設計思想を感じさせ、手にした際の満足感を高める要素となっています。

ケースには細かな使用傷が見られますが、手が加えられていないオリジナルコンディションを保っています。ラグのファセット、ケースバックの刻印、獅子のメダリオンが良好な状態で残っております。ダイヤルはヴィンテージにありがちな焼けがほとんど見られず、シルバーのサンレイが鮮明な色調を維持。インデックスと針はミントな質感を保ち、光を受けて端正に輝きます。弊社にて分解清掃済みです。

Seiko’s second-generation Grand Seiko builds upon the achievements of the first model, elevating practicality and durability while preserving the refined aesthetic that defines the line. Introduced in 1964, this reference adds a calendar function and adopts a screw-back case designed to improve water resistance—clear evidence of Seiko’s ambition to rival contemporary Swiss manufacturers in both performance and construction quality. The case serial beginning with “57” aligns neatly with the reference number, a detail unique to early examples and appreciated by collectors.

The multifaceted dauphine hands and bar indexes complement the silver sunburst dial, producing a formal and harmonious appearance. The substantial lugs and thick case profile convey a sense of solidity, reflecting a design philosophy centred on reliability and enhancing the tactile presence of the watch.

The case exhibits minor wear consistent with careful use, though remains in untouched, original condition. The faceted lugs, engraved caseback, and lion medallion are all well preserved, with remnants of the protective film still faintly visible. The dial shows almost no ageing—its silver sunburst finish retains a crisp tone, while the hands and indexes present a clean, mint-like surface that captures light gracefully.
