OMEGA Seamaster CHRONOMATER Ref.168.024

COMMENT

COMMENT

How about a mechanical Omega from the golden age? Built in the years just before the Quartz Crisis, this piece reflects a period of maturity in design—timeless enough to wear decades later. Its proportions strike an excellent balance of thickness and diameter, perfectly suited to the wrist. The dial is of the striking onyx style, with bold black inserts between the hands and indexes, lending crisp legibility and a sharp presence. It is fitted with a beads-of-rice bracelet Ref. 1036 with 511 end links.

The case shows only a small mark on the bezel, while the sides and lugs remain free of scratches, preserving a clean profile. The caseback retains its mirrored finish without notable blemishes. The dial has taken on a warm tone through gentle aging, while the hands are free from bends or major marks. The indexes preserve their black printing without deterioration, ensuring strong clarity. Serviced and disassembled by our watchmaker.

The subtly curved dial, dauphine hands, and other details capture the essence of vintage design, while the movement reflects the high level of technical refinement of its era—offering both character and practicality. A watch that balances antique charm with reliability, it is a piece well-suited for everyday wear as well as for appreciating the artistry of mid-century Omega.

Founded in 1848, Omega has built over 160 years of history as one of Switzerland’s most respected watchmakers. In 1948, on the brand’s centennial, the Seamaster line was introduced—a collection that has since become a cornerstone of Omega’s legacy. Whether as a symbol of achievement, a commemoration of life’s milestones, or a trusted companion through the years, few timepieces embody such enduring significance as an Omega.
