COMMENT

1960年代に製造されたゼニスの自動巻モデルです。真円のケースに細身のストレートラグを組み合わせ、スクリューバックを採用。シルバーダイヤルは中央と外周で仕上げを切り替えた段付きのツートン仕様で、オメガのパイパンダイヤルを想起させる立体的な造形です。クロスラインと6時位置のデイト表示、12時位置のアプライドスターが、精緻な構成にアクセントを加えています。時分針は剣先に加えて後端まで鋭く尖らせた、ゼニス独自の意匠。インデックスも中央の稜線を境に二面のファセットを設けており、光の角度によって明暗が切り替わります。

ダイヤルは艶と繊細な仕上げを保ったミントコンディションで、針やインデックスは良好な状態です。ケースも傷が極めて少なく、裏蓋には販売当時のシールが残る、使用感のほとんど見られないスーパーミントコンディションです。弊社にて分解清掃済みです。

ムーブメントは25石の自動巻Cal.2542 PCを搭載。毎時21,600振動、約46時間のパワーリザーブを備え、針を19時頃と0時の間で往復させることで日付を進められる簡易早送り機構を採用しています。 ケース、ダイヤル、針の造形に加え、当時のシールまで残した保存状態は特筆すべきもので、1960年代のゼニスらしい設計と仕上げを明瞭に確認できる一本です。

COMMENT

This Zenith automatic dates to the 1960s. Its round case is fitted with slender straight lugs and a screw-down case back. The silver dial has a stepped two-tone finish, with contrasting treatments across the center and outer section creating a dimensional appearance reminiscent of Omega’s pie-pan dials. Crosshairs, a date display at 6 o’clock, and an applied star at 12 add detail to the carefully arranged design. The hour and minute hands are distinctly Zenith in form, tapering to sharp points at both ends. Each index is divided by a central ridge into two facets, alternating between light and shadow as the viewing angle changes.

The dial remains in mint condition, retaining its original sheen and finely executed finishes, while the hands and indexes are also very well preserved. The case shows remarkably few scratches, and the original sales sticker remains on the case back. With almost no visible signs of use, the watch is in superb overall condition. Fully serviced by our watchmaker.

The watch is powered by the 25-jewel automatic Cal.2542 PC, operating at 21,600 vibrations per hour and offering a power reserve of approximately 46 hours. It incorporates a semi-quickset date mechanism, allowing the date to be advanced by moving the hands back and forth between approximately 7 p.m. and midnight. From the case and dial to the distinctive hands and surviving period sticker, its exceptional state of preservation offers a clear view of Zenith’s design and finishing from the 1960s.
