COMMENT
At first glance, this watch evokes the aesthetic of the 1970s, yet it was produced in the late 1960s. The dial features a distinctive matte-grain finish paired with refined bar indexes and baton hands, while the radially brushed bezel enhances its modern character. In contrast, the overall case silhouette reflects the organic curves characteristic of Omega’s 1960s design language, creating a compelling balance emblematic of a transitional era. Equipped with a date function, screw-back case, and the chronometer-certified Cal.564, this model stands out for both its practicality and technical pedigree. While similar case designs are more commonly seen in day-date references such as Ref.166.032 and 168.023, date-only versions housing the chronometer-grade Cal.564 are comparatively scarce.
The exterior shows minor signs of wear, yet the smooth curvature of the lugs and the crisp case lines remain well preserved. The flat bezel retains sharp edges against the case sides, contributing to a clean and defined appearance. The dial is in mint condition with minimal aging, and the hands, indexes, and Omega logo maintain their original brilliance. Fully serviced by our watchmaker.
With its minimalist configuration and clearly defined design philosophy, this model embodies the aesthetic shift from classic to modern watchmaking. Such nuanced appeal—beyond reference numbers and production years—is at the heart of vintage Omega’s enduring fascination. This piece stands as an excellent example of an era when technical excellence and forward-looking design converged, offering a rich sense of historical character and horological refinement.
