クロノマスターの上位機として展開された「スーペリアクロノメーター」です。自動巻Cal.5250を搭載し、曜日・日付表示を備えています。文字盤には「SUPERIOR CHRONOMETER」「special」「35 JEWELS」の表記があり、シルバーのサンレイ仕上げに、黒い中央ラインを持つバーインデックスと針を組み合わせています。12時位置の曜日表示と3時位置の日付表示を配したダイヤルには、6時位置に鷲のマークがあしらわれています。

ケースには使用に伴う擦り傷が見られますが、ラグ上面の面取りやケースの稜線は明瞭に残っています。文字盤はサンレイ仕上げの表情を保ち、各表記やインデックスも明瞭です。裏蓋の鷲のメダリオンにも経年による風合いが見られます。弊社にて分解掃除済みです。

クロノマスターは、シチズンが機械式時計の精度を追求した時代を代表するシリーズです。標準的なデイデイトモデルのCal.5240が33石であるのに対し、本機のCal.5250は35石仕様。文字盤と裏蓋の双方に配された鷲の意匠と、「SUPERIOR CHRONOMETER」の表記が、シリーズ内でも特別な位置付けにあったことを伝えています。

COMMENT

This is the “Superior Chronometer,” introduced as a higher-grade model within the Chrono Master collection. It is powered by the automatic Cal. 5250 and features both day and date displays. The dial bears the inscriptions “SUPERIOR CHRONOMETER,” “special,” and “35 JEWELS.” Its silver sunburst finish is complemented by baton indexes and hands with central black lines. The day display is positioned at 12 o’clock, the date at 3 o’clock, and Citizen’s eagle emblem at 6 o’clock.

The case shows scratches from use, though the bevels on the upper surfaces of the lugs and the case edges remain clearly defined. The dial retains its sunburst finish, with the inscriptions and indexes remaining crisp. The eagle medallion on the case back displays a natural patina consistent with age. The Chrono Master collection represents a period when Citizen was actively pursuing greater precision in mechanical watchmaking. While the standard day-date Cal. 5240 used 33 jewels, the Cal. 5250 fitted to this model has 35 jewels. The eagle emblem appearing on both the dial and case back, together with the “SUPERIOR CHRONOMETER” designation, reflects its special position within the collection.
