CARTIERの中でも個性的な存在感を放つ、ステップケースのジャンボモデルです。ケースは外周に向かって三段にステップした立体的な構造を持ち、通常のタンクとは異なる力強いフォルムが特徴です。ブラックダイヤルにゴールドプリントのローマンインデックスを配し、中央を囲むレイルウェイミニッツトラックと相まって、クラシックでありながら装飾性の高いデザインに仕上がっています。

現在では、ジュエラーとして名高いカルティエですが、まだ懐中時計が主流だった1904年に本格的な腕時計を製作したのはカルティエが最初でした。「タンク」という名前は、“戦車”を意味し、第一次世界大戦中の終結に貢献したといわれる、ルノー製の戦車がデザインの基となっています。その中でもマストシリーズは文字盤のバリエーションが豊富にあります。

COMMENT

This jumbo stepped-case model has a distinctive presence even among Cartier watches. The case features a three-tiered stepped structure that rises toward the outer edge, giving it a strong, sculptural form quite different from a standard Tank. The black dial is accented by gold-printed Roman numerals, while the railway minute track surrounding the center adds a classical yet decorative character.

The case shows minor scratches from use and age-related changes to the plated finish, but the dimensional character of the stepped case remains well preserved. The transition from the case sides to the bezel is beautifully defined, and despite its rectangular form, the case retains a softly rounded profile. The black dial offers a strong contrast against the gold printing, with the Roman numerals and minute track enhancing the rich character of this model. BRAND

Although Cartier is widely known today as a jeweler, the maison was one of the first to create a true wristwatch in 1904, at a time when pocket watches were still the standard. The name “Tank” means “military tank,” and its design was inspired by the Renault tanks said to have contributed to the end of World War I. The Must series is also known for its wide variety of dial designs.
