VACHERON CONSTANTIN Ref. 33030, commonly known as the “Mesh d’Or,” is a model distinguished by its fully integrated mesh bracelet. The woven gold structure flows seamlessly from the rectangular case into the bracelet, functioning not as mere decoration but as an essential part of the overall form. Crafted in 18K yellow gold, the surface reveals subtle variations in depth and sheen as it catches the light. The caseback is secured by screws, clearly reflecting the design philosophy of a refined ultra-thin dress watch. Powering the watch is the hand-wound Cal. 1003/1, a legendary movement renowned for its approximate thickness of just 1.64 mm. Finished to Geneva Seal standards, it achieves a rare balance between external elegance and inner technical density.
The case retains well-defined contours, with clean, sharp edges. There is virtually no visible wear on the caseback or the bracelet. The mesh links are even and precisely aligned, allowing light to reflect evenly across the surface. The clasp operates smoothly and naturally, lending a sense of refinement to the act of fastening and removing the watch. Thanks to the ultra-thin movement, the watch sits exceptionally well on the wrist, offering a surprisingly light and comfortable wearing experience. Fully serviced by our watchmaker.
The Cal. 1003 family is often cited as one of the ultimate achievements in ultra-thin mechanical watchmaking. Developed from the lineage of ultra-thin ébauches established in the 1950s, it was refined by Vacheron Constantin to meet its own exacting standards. What makes Ref. 33030 particularly compelling is the way this movement is paired with a distinctly 1970s, jewelry-inspired mesh bracelet design. It is neither defined solely by thinness nor by opulence; rather, it is the harmonious integration of slim proportions, the warmth of gold, and the interplay of light and shadow across the woven bracelet that defines the model. Both as a timepiece and as an object of adornment, it reflects the equal care and intent characteristic of Vacheron Constantin during this period.
