1973年製、ロレックス サブマリーナー Ref.1680、通称「赤サブ」です。Ref.1680はサブマリーナーで初めてデイト表示を採用したモデル。本個体は、防水表記が「660ft＝200m」となる“Feet First”のMK5ダイヤルを装備しています。MK5は一般に1972年から1973年頃に見られ、「SUBMARINER」の赤文字が白い下地を介さず、ブラックダイヤルへ直接印刷されている点が特徴です。比較的閉じた形状の「660」、丸みを帯びた「ft」の書体、各文字列の位置関係にもMK5固有の特徴が確認できます。風防には、Ref.1680のみに採用されたオリジナルの煙突型アクリル風防を装着。側面に段差を設けず、高く垂直に立ち上がる独特の形状に、サイクロップレンズを組み合わせています。ベゼルにはMK3インサートが装着されておりオリジナリティが高いです。ブラスレットはフォールデッドのダブルクラスプブレスレットRef.9315、エンドリンク380，ノークラスプデイトです。
ケースは小キズこそあるものの、ポリッシュを感じさせない素晴らしいプロポーションです。ベゼルは目立つ傷のない良好な状態を保ちながら、ブラックからチャコールグレーへと均一に褪色しています。マットダイヤルの質感と各種プリントは明瞭で、針とインデックスの夜光はクリーム色へ自然に変化しています。ケースはラグやリューズガードに十分な厚みがあり、力強いプロポーションを維持しています。弊社にて分解清掃済みです。

This 1973 Rolex Submariner Ref.1680 is the model commonly known as the “Red Sub.” The Ref.1680 was the first Submariner to incorporate a date display. This example is fitted with a “Feet First” MK5 dial, with the depth rating arranged as “660ft = 200m.” Generally associated with watches from around 1972 to 1973, the MK5 is distinguished by the red “SUBMARINER” signature printed directly onto the black dial without a white base layer. Further identifying details include the relatively closed form of the “660,” the rounded typography of “ft,” and the positioning of the individual lines of text. The watch retains its original chimney-style acrylic crystal, a distinctive type used exclusively on the Ref.1680, with tall vertical sides, no stepped profile, and a Cyclops magnifier. It is also fitted with a well-preserved MK3 bezel insert. The bracelet is a folded-link Ref.9315 with a double-locking clasp, paired with 380 end links and an undated clasp.
The case shows minor scratches but retains excellent proportions with no evident signs of polishing. The bezel insert remains free from any prominent marks and has faded evenly from black to charcoal grey. The matte dial retains its original texture, and the printing remains crisp. The lume on the hands and indexes has aged naturally to a warm cream tone. Both the lugs and crown guards retain substantial thickness, preserving the strong profile of the case.
