キングセイコーの最高峰44クロノメーター、1966年5月の製造品です。Ref.4420-9990となった後期の製品は、ブロック体のChronometerがこの製造期ならではのディティールです。ダイヤルはシルバーのサンレイ、ソリッドなバーインデックス×ドルフィンハンドのクラシカルな意匠。ノンデイトですのですっきりとしたシンメトリーなフェイスが魅力です。ケースはゴールドトップ。44KSではなかなか珍しいです。竜頭にW SEIKO、ケースバックのメダリオンは獅子です。

ケースは過去に研磨歴の見られない、素晴らしいプロポーションです。当時のファセットを残しており、鏡面とヘアラインの切り替えが美しいです。小傷は少なく、瑞々しさが感じられます。ダイアルはエイジングが見られず、シルバーカラーがはっきりとしています。針やインデックスはわずかにくすみが見られますが、肉眼では気になりません。当店にてオーバーホールは済ませていますので、ご購入後すぐお使いいただけます。

無駄なデザインのないキングセイコー。質素なものに趣を感じる日本人ならではとも言える洗練された作品で、普遍であるが故のオーラを持った時計です。

キングセイコーは1961年8月に亀戸の第二精工舎にて開発され、グランドセイコーに次ぐ高級腕時計としてセイコーの時計史において欠かすことのできない名品腕時計となっています。

COMMENT

This is the pinnacle of King Seiko, the 44 Chronometer, manufactured in May 1966. The later models, designated Ref. 4420-9990, feature the block-shaped Chronometer emblem, a distinctive detail unique to this manufacturing period. The dial boasts a silver sunray finish, with solid bar indices and dauphine hands, embodying a classical design. With no date complication, the face maintains a clean and symmetrical allure. The case is gold-topped, a rarity for the 44KS line. It bears "W SEIKO" on the crown and a lion medallion on the case back.

The case retains its magnificent proportions without any signs of past polishing, showcasing the original facets and a seamless transition between mirror finish and hairline brushing. Few scratches are present, maintaining a sense of freshness. The dial shows no signs of aging, with a crisp silver hue. While the hands and indices exhibit slight tarnishing, it's barely noticeable to the naked eye. Having undergone an overhaul in our workshop, it's ready for immediate use upon purchase.

King Seiko embodies simplicity without unnecessary design elements. It's a refined piece that resonates with the Japanese appreciation for understated elegance, exuding a timeless aura.
