ROLEX OYSTER REF.6244 HONEYCOMB DIAL

COMMENT

HIGHLIGHT

Mid Size,   Honeycomb Dial

COMMENT

Introducing a hand-wound, slim-profile Oyster model, slightly larger than the Speedking, with a mid-size diameter just surpassing 30mm. The dial features a highly sought-after honeycomb pattern, known as the Honeycomb dial. The embossed indices, classic alpha hands, and Arabic numerals at 3, 6, and 9 positions lend a sporty touch. The finely detailed chapter ring along the outer perimeter exudes a vintage vibe. The classic design is complemented by the blue steel seconds hand.

The dial is in mint condition, perfectly preserving the luster of the honeycomb pattern. Finding a well-preserved White Dial from the 1950s, especially with silver indices, is a rarity. The indices, crown logo, and hands showcase the impeccable condition with the reflection of the plating. Strict scrutiny reveals a blackish discoloration in the luminous material. The case is minimally scratched, characterized by its thickness, earning high praise.

This Rolex from the 1950s stands out for its meticulous craftsmanship, especially evident in the honeycomb dial. Among the Rolex watches of this era, those with silver indices are exceptionally scarce. The slim case unique to hand-wound models, coupled with the clean design of the non-date face, sets it apart in terms of ease of handling.

With a distinctive domed crystal profile, a feature recognizable from the case side, this model exhibits a case size well-suited for the Asian wrist, contributing to its popularity. The Oyster case with a screw-down back structure, developed to safeguard precise movements from moisture and sudden shocks, showcases Rolex's commitment to high-quality components. This hand-wound Oyster, enriched with Rolex's premium parts, stands as a vintage model that laid the foundation during Rolex's golden era.
