CARTIERの代表的なモデルのひとつであるVENDOME。12時位置と6時位置で時計のフェイスを支えるラグが、このモデルの特徴です。外から順にイエローゴールド、ホワイトゴールド、ピンクゴールドの3色からなるトリコロールカラーのケースが華やかです。クォーツならではの薄さを実現しており、袖口を邪魔することなく着用できます。陶磁器のような品のあるラッカーホワイトのダイアルにローマンインデックスは、凛とした顔つきを見せます。 ベルトは当店で製作した、ヴァンドーム専用のクロコダイルベルトを付けています。

厳密に言いますと、ケースは小傷や打痕が見受けられます。これだけのデザイン性の高さですので、愛用されてきたのでしょう。ドレッシーな雰囲気を損なう、大きな損傷は見られませんのでご安心ください。Paris表記の文字盤は当時物で、この年式のカルティエに見られる、特有のクラックが多少見られます。ルーペで角度をつけて覗き、光を反射させてようやく確認できる程度のものです。お気づきの方が多いかもしれませんが、針も当時物であり、ブルースチールではなく、ブラックのものが付いています。

VENDOMEはルイ・カルティエが馬車でパリのヴァンドーム広場を通りかかった時、車輪の取り付け部分を見てその形を閃いたことから命名されました。 その際、同乗していたのは、『老人と海』などで知られるアメリカの小説家、アーネスト・ヘミングウェイだったという逸話も残されています。 ブラックの針はモダンな要素が加わり、フェイスの印象が引き締まりました。華やかなブルーの針と比べ装飾華美にならず、男性でも取り入れやすいです。日々のコーディネイトに添えて、ワンランク上のおしゃれが楽しめそうです。

One of Cartier's iconic models, the VENDOME, is characterized by lugs supporting the watch face at the 12 o'clock and 6 o'clock positions. The tricolor case, comprising yellow gold, white gold, and pink gold, adds a touch of glamour. Achieving a thin profile typical of quartz watches, it can be worn without interfering with shirt cuffs. Strictly speaking, the case exhibits minor scratches and dings, indicating its history of use and appreciation for its high design standards. Rest assured, there are no significant damages that compromise its dressy ambiance. The dial bears the "Paris" inscription typical of that era, with some of the characteristic cracks observed in Cartier timepieces of this vintage, albeit visible only upon close inspection under light reflection. You may notice that the hands are also original, not blue steel but black, adding a modern touch and refining the face's impression. Unlike the ornate blue hands, these black hands offer a more understated elegance, making it suitable even for male wearers. Pairing it with daily outfits elevates your style effortlessly.

The name VENDOME originated when Louis Cartier, passing through Place Vendôme in Paris in a carriage, was inspired by the wheel attachment mechanism, which he envisioned in the watch's design. An anecdote suggests that Ernest Hemingway, the renowned American novelist of "The Old Man and the Sea" fame, was accompanying him during this moment of inspiration.
