LEMANIA REF.280 PINK × GREY Dial

COMMENT

ムーブメントは自社製のCal.3050。

COMMENT

This is a waterproof watch made by LEMANIA, the company that supplied ebauches to TISSOT, OMEGA, and other renowned brands. The case is equipped with a sturdy screw-back and features fancy lugs that resemble cat paws, making it visually striking. The case back is stamped with symbols representing its magnetic resistance and waterproof performance, which were part of its sales pitch at the time. The dial features a captivating pink and gray color scheme, with rose gold-colored hands and applied indexes, all of which have beautifully preserved their original hues over time, rather than showing signs of aging. The outer ring is finely detailed with a chapter ring, which is a characteristic design feature of sports watches from this era.

The movement is the in-house Cal. 3050, a highly regarded mechanism that was also used in the large cushion models of the Czechoslovakian military. One of its distinctive features is the golden device protruding from the regulator, designed to prevent the shock spring from slipping over the other side, a technique also used in Omega’s legendary Cal. 321.

After 70 years, the case shows some minor scratches but remains free from any major damage, preserving its excellent proportions. The lugs, typically prone to wear, have maintained their beautiful condition. The dial has aged gracefully, developing a unique patina with the central gray area and the pink around the indexes transitioning to a calm, beautiful tone over time. The chapter ring and printed lettering remain in good condition, showing no signs of deterioration. The hands and indexes shine with their original rose gold color, offering excellent visibility. The watch has been thoroughly serviced by our company.

This watch, showcasing the charm of LEMANIA, combines both design and engineering excellence, earning high praise as a vintage timepiece. Its waterproof capabilities, magnetic resistance, and functionality as a sports watch make it a perfect balance of practicality. Its classic vintage beauty, combined with a timeless allure, will captivate its owner. With the brand name, craftsmanship, and design all in perfect harmony, this model remains a special piece whose value has only increased with time.

Since its founding in 1884, LEMANIA has been a leading ebauche manufacturer, specializing in chronographs. In the 1940s, the company produced military watches under its own name and supplied watches to the British and Swedish armies. LEMANIA’s chronographs were even adopted by the British military for all branches of the armed forces, solidifying the company's reputation for reliability. As an ebauche supplier, LEMANIA began providing movements to OMEGA and other brands in 1932. It is important to note that the Omega Speedmaster worn by astronaut Neil Armstrong during the Apollo 11 moon landing in 1969 was powered by a movement made by LEMANIA.
