ROLEX Air-king Super Precision Ref.5500

COMMENT

COMMENT

The dial features a silver sunray finish, creating a refined and elegant backdrop. The indices are unusually slender and about half the length of typical markers, creating a visual effect that makes the dial appear significantly larger. The watch is fitted with classic alpha hands, a design that was discontinued by the mid-1960s. The dial is signed "Air-King" along with the period-correct "SUPER PRECISION" text, era details. Powering the watch is the rare Caliber 1530, produced for only six years between 1958 and 1964. It is paired with a riveted Oyster bracelet featuring end links 57 and a clasp dated 63/3.

The case remains in excellent condition, retaining its original hairline finish with only minor surface marks. The dial shows no signs of aging and maintains a stunningly clean appearance. The hands exhibit only slight aging but still retain their bright luster. The indices preserve their sharp faceting, maintaining the original texture and depth. The watch has been fully serviced by us.

Despite its simple design with no date and automatic winding, this piece embodies Rolex’s renowned attributes: water resistance, shock resistance, anti-magnetism, and precision. It’s a tough, highly reliable vintage Rolex that will accompany its owner for years to come.
