COMMENT

人気の高いアイボリーダイヤルにローマンインデックスを配した、カルティエらしい洗練されたフェイス。針は手巻きタンクに特徴的なブラックのバトンハンドで、ブルースチールとは異なる、引き締まった印象を与えています。ブルーのカボションリューズがさりげないアクセントとなり、控えめながら上品な存在感を放ちます。ベルトは新たに製作したクロコダイル製で、タンク専用のサイズに仕立てられています。バックルはカルティエ純正のものが付属しており、全体として統一感のある構成です。ムーブメントはETA2512-1をベースとしたCal.78-1を搭載しており、信頼性とメンテナンス性を兼ね備えた実用的な仕様です。

ケースはわずかな使用傷が見られ、7時位置のラグに打痕がございますが、全体のフォルムやプロポーションは良好に保たれています。ダイヤルはクラックのない綺麗な状態を維持しており、針は軽微なくすみを残すのみで、視認性を損なうものではありません。弊社にて分解清掃済みです。

現在では、ジュエラーとして名高いカルティエですが、まだ懐中時計が主流だった1904年に本格的な腕時計を製作したのはカルティエが最初でした。「タンク」という名前は、“戦車”を意味し、第一次世界大戦中の終結に貢献したといわれる、ルノー製の戦車がデザインの基となっています。その中でもマストシリーズは文字盤のバリエーションが豊富にあります。

COMMENT

This refined timepiece features Cartier’s signature aesthetic, pairing a highly sought-after ivory dial with classic Roman numerals. The black baton hands—distinctive of manual-wind Tank models—offer a more defined and modern impression compared to traditional blued steel. A subtle touch of elegance is added by the blue cabochon-set crown. The strap is a newly crafted crocodile leather, custom-sized for the Tank, and the original Cartier buckle is included, giving the piece a coherent and authentic presentation. Inside, it houses the Cal. 78-1 movement, based on the ETA 2512-1, known for its reliability and serviceability.

The case shows minimal signs of wear with a minor mark on the lug at 7 o’clock, yet its overall shape and proportions remain intact. The dial is in excellent condition with no cracks, while the hands show only minor tarnishing that does not affect legibility. Fully disassembled and cleaned by our watchmaker.

Ivory dials, such as the one featured here, were a defining aesthetic of Cartier’s manual-wind models from the 1970s and 1980s. This particular configuration, elegant yet restrained, exemplifies the design philosophy Cartier brought from fine jewelry into the world of horology. The harmony between the classical Roman numerals and the smooth, enamel-like finish has made this a highly representative and collectible piece within the vintage Tank lineage.
