Exceptionally large for its era, the 35mm “jumbo” case from the 1930s houses a striking black mirror dial, accented with copper-colored gilt lettering around the outer track. The case employs a double-back construction for added dust protection, and both the movement and inner case share matching serial numbers—a testament to Longines' meticulous quality control at the time. Fixed lugs bear hallmarks, underscoring the refined character of this premium piece.

The Cal. 27.0 is considered a superior hand-wound movement among Longines’ 12-ligne family. Compared to the more commonly found Cal. 12.68Z, the 27.0 exhibits a higher level of engineering and finishing, and was typically reserved for solid gold cased models.
