CARTIER LM SANTOS OCTAGON Automatic Ref.2966 Godron Bracelet

COMMENT

COMMENT

The Santos Octagon is one of Cartier’s sportier lines introduced in the 1970s, notable for its distinctive octagonal bezel. Discontinued around 1990, this model retains several design elements that are no longer present in modern versions. The dial features a porcelain-like lacquered white finish with a harmonious combination of minute track, Roman numerals, and a circular railway line. Blued steel baton hands and a gemstone-set cabochon crown add refined accents. It is powered by the reliable automatic Caliber 2671.

The case has few minor scratches and is in good overall condition with a clean appearance. The dial has some very small cracks, but they do not affect legibility and the overall impression is well-organized. The hands retain their vibrant blued steel color, and the indexes show no chips or peeling. The watch has been disassembled and cleaned by our company.

The flat-cut bracelet sparkles under the light, giving the piece the refined presence of a luxury bangle. This specific style, known as "godron," is exclusive to the automatic version. The LM size with automatic movement is rarely seen today and increasingly difficult to find. A true embodiment of the Santos Octagon’s unique charm, this is a model of enduring elegance and collectible value.

The “Santos” line began in the early 1900s when aviator Alberto Santos-Dumont commissioned Cartier to create a watch he could read mid-flight. Among its various iterations, the octagonal-cased Santos Octagon stands out with a flat-cut bracelet that sparkles with every movement of the wrist. Elegant in its simplicity, it remains one of Cartier’s most subtly distinguished designs.
