PIAGET REF.12448 Ultra-Thin Automatic Clous de Paris

COMMENT

COMMENT

The PIAGET Ref.12448 is a slim automatic dress watch housed in an 18K white gold case. Piaget established a strong reputation for the development of ultra-thin movements from the late 1950s, and in 1960 introduced the micro-rotor automatic Cal.12P. This watch follows that tradition, with a slim case and refined dial that give it the elegant presence associated with Piaget. In addition to the calm sheen unique to white gold, the case sides are decorated with Clous de Paris, or hobnail, finishing, creating subtle yet dimensional shadows. This delicate guilloché decoration naturally brings together Piaget’s sensibility as a jeweler and its technical skill as a watchmaker.

The case is in excellent condition and can be described as mint. The texture of the white gold is beautifully preserved, and the case lines and edges remain well defined. The Clous de Paris decoration shows little wear, with the three-dimensional character of the hobnail pattern clearly remaining. The dial, hands, and indexes show no noticeable deterioration, giving the watch a very clean overall impression. It has clearly been carefully preserved as a vintage Piaget, without losing the delicate atmosphere of its slim case.

The appeal of the Ref.12448 lies in the way it combines the practicality of a slim automatic watch with the beauty of a Piaget dress watch. The understated white gold case is easy to wear with a variety of styles, while the Clous de Paris decoration adds a discreet sense of individuality and refinement. Suitable for both formal occasions and as an elegant daily accent, this is a highly attractive model for those seeking a vintage Piaget with a strong focus on condition.
