COMMENT

1950年代前半に製造されたロレックス「オイスター・パーペチュアル」Ref.6332です。バブルバックから薄型の自動巻モデルへ移行する過程で製造された、通称「セミバブルバック」。ステンレススチール製のケースは約34mmで、当時としては大きく、フラットなケースサイドを備えています。希少なブラックギルトの段付きダイヤルには、立体的なクラウンマークとファセット入りインデックス、夜光を備えたアルファハンドを配置。外周を一段下げた構造が、ブラックダイヤルに奥行きを与えています。

ダイヤル全体には経年による細かな斑点状の変化が見られますが、ブラックの下地とゴールドカラーのプリント、インデックスは明瞭に残っています。ケースはストンと落ちるサイドフラット形状でエッジを効かせています。ラグ間のシリアルおよびリファレンス刻印には摩耗が見られます。Ref.6332は直管型エンドリンクがラグ間に接触する構造のため、同部分の刻印が摩耗した個体が多く、本個体も「BREVET＋」「6332」およびシリアルの一部を判読できる状態です。弊社にて分解清掃済みです。

ムーブメントは、18石・毎時18,000振動の自動巻Cal.645を搭載します。従来のバブルバック用ムーブメントの設計を継承しながら、センターセコンドと耐震装置を備えた1950年代初頭の短命キャリバーです。ブレスレットは、英国のWABがロレックス向けに製造したステンレス製エキスパンションブレスレット。リベット構造の各コマに伸縮機構を備え、クラスプ内側には「WAB MADE IN ENGLAND STAINLESS STEEL ROLEX」の刻印が残っています。時計本体と同時代の英国製ブレスレットを組み合わせた、資料性の高い仕様です。

Produced in the early 1950s, this Rolex Oyster Perpetual Ref. 6332 is commonly known as a “Semi-Bubbleback,” reflecting its position in the transition from the Bubbleback to slimmer automatic models. The stainless steel case measures approximately 34mm—relatively large for its period—and features flat case sides. Its rare stepped black gilt dial is fitted with a raised coronet, faceted indexes, and luminous alpha hands. The recessed outer section adds depth to the black dial.

The dial displays fine spotting from age throughout, while the black ground, gilt printing, and applied indexes remain clearly defined. The case retains its flat-sided profile and well-defined edges. The serial and reference engravings between the lugs show wear. On the Ref. 6332, the straight tubular end links make contact with the area between the lugs, and many examples consequently show wear to these engravings. On this watch, “BREVET +,” “6332,” and part of the serial number remain legible. Fully serviced by our watchmaker.

Inside is the automatic Cal. 645, an 18-jewel movement operating at 18,000 vibrations per hour. Carrying forward the architecture of earlier Bubbleback movements, this short-lived caliber from the early 1950s features central seconds and shock protection. The stainless steel expansion bracelet was manufactured for Rolex by the British firm WAB. Each riveted link incorporates an expansion mechanism, and the inside of the clasp retains the inscription “WAB MADE IN ENGLAND STAINLESS STEEL ROLEX.” Paired with a period British-made bracelet, the watch offers a particularly informative example of Rolex production from this transitional era.
