1960年代初頭のロレックス デイトジャスト Ref.1601です。ブラックギルトダイヤルには、ドアストッパーを思わせる傾斜の付いた立体的なインデックスを配置。鋭いドーフィンハンドとフルーテッドベゼルが、初期モデルらしい力強くクラシカルな表情を形成しています。自動巻クロノメータームーブメントを搭載し、3時位置にはサイクロップレンズ付きのデイト表示を備えます。純正ジュビリーブレスレットは、クラスプコード70/1、エンドリンク55の組み合わせです。

ダイヤルはミラー特有の艶を保ちながら、夜空に星を散らしたような微細な粒状変化が全面に現れています。プリントは明瞭で、針とインデックスの夜光には自然な経年変化が見られます。ケースには使用に伴う傷がありますが、ラグの輪郭と全体のプロポーションを良好に維持しています。弊社にて分解清掃済みです。

ドーフィンハンドは、主に1960年代前半までのデイトジャストに見られる意匠です。この針を備えたRef.1601は流通数が少なく、艶を保ったブラックギルトダイヤルとなれば、さらに限られます。立体的なインデックスと銀河を思わせる粒状の経年変化が、一般的なRef.1601とは異なる表情を見せる一本です。

COMMENT

This Rolex Datejust Ref. 1601 dates from the early 1960s. Its black gilt dial is fitted with distinctive applied indexes featuring sloped profiles reminiscent of doorstops. Sharp dauphine hands and a fluted bezel give the watch the strong, classical appearance associated with early examples. It is powered by an automatic chronometer-rated movement and features a date display beneath a Cyclops lens at 3 o’clock. The original Jubilee bracelet is fitted with No. 55 end links and a clasp stamped 70/1.

The dial retains its characteristic mirror-like gloss, with fine granular aging spread across the surface like stars against a night sky. The printing remains crisp, while the luminous material on the hands and indexes has aged naturally. The case shows scratches from use, though the contours of the lugs and the overall proportions remain well preserved. Fully serviced by our watchmaker.

Dauphine hands are primarily associated with Datejust models produced through the early 1960s. Ref. 1601 examples fitted with these hands are less commonly encountered, and those retaining a glossy black gilt dial are more limited still. Together with the sculpted indexes, the dial’s galaxy-like aging gives this watch a character distinct from that of a more typical Ref. 1601.
