ROLEX OYSTER ROYAL REF.2280 Big Crown

COMMENT

COMMENT

This Rolex timepiece is a classic embodiment, packed with vintage elements. The mid-size case, measuring around 30mm, represents the standard men's size of the 1940s, reflecting the cutting-edge trends of that era. Rolex watches with small seconds were relatively rare in the market, and at first glance, the dial may not give off the typical Rolex vibe. However, the protruding screw-down crown and the rounded Oyster case unmistakably define the essence of Rolex. The two-tone dial features a vertical hairline pattern in the center and a matte white outer section. Between the outer minute track and the luminescent Arabic numerals, a copper-colored gilt chapter ring adds a touch of brilliance, evoking a design typical of the 1940s.

The dial has undergone a gentle aging process, resulting in an overall subtle grayscale tone. The crisp gilt lines provide a delightful contrast within the aging backdrop. The hands exhibit significant aging, and the applied luminous material on the hands' undersides boasts a beautiful beige hue. The case has a pleasantly rounded proportion. It has been disassembled and cleaned by our team, ensuring optimal performance. The manually-wound movement with 17 jewels has a low-beat frequency, delivering reliable accuracy even after decades. Rolex's commitment to precision stands the test of time, providing a reassuring sense of reliability.

Transporting us back to the era of World War II, a period demanding simple and practical sports watches, this timepiece reflects the essence of those times. With its waterproof, shock-resistant, and luminous capabilities, it embodies the universality of a wristwatch. Having undergone maintenance, this Rolex timepiece is ready to be worn with confidence.
