SEIKO 150m DIVER Ref.6309-7049

COMMENT

COMMENT

The 6309 series divers' watch replaced Seiko's 6105 in 1976 and continued production for over a decade. The main changes include the addition of a day function and the transition of indexes from squares to dots. The double-grooved rotating bezel enhances operability.

Please note that the accompanying rubber strap is aftermarket, and therefore, it may be prone to damage shortly after use. Please exercise caution when using it. Even within the warranty period, we cannot guarantee against damage to the bracelet.

The watch's value is enhanced by its well-maintained bezel, sharp case edges, and luminous markers on the dial that haven't turned black. Although there is some aging visible on the luminous hands, we have deliberately left them untouched. The watch has been disassembled and cleaned by our company.

The 6309 gained fame for being worn by Ed Harris in the American science fiction film "The Abyss," directed by James Cameron and released in 1989.

The 1960s marked a period of significant advancement for mechanical wristwatches, with Seiko swiftly catching up with and surpassing the global competition in both precision contests and mass production. Concurrently, there was a surge towards the "electrification of timepieces," and with Seiko's groundbreaking launch of the world's first quartz (crystal) wristwatch in December 1969, it marked a significant turning point from mechanical to quartz watches.
