COMMENT

シーマスターの完成系とも言えるRef.166.010の、ノーデイトモデルRef.165.010です。ヴィンテージらしい中央が隆起したダイヤルにバーインデックス、ドーフィンハンドとクラシックな要素が組み合わされています。このリファレンスは文字盤は針とインデックスの間に黒色を用いたオニキスタイプが多い中、こちらはそれを配さないよりシンプルなタイプとなっています。ケースは薄型に改良され、日本人の腕サイズに良く合います。ケースはメッキの難しいステンレスに厚く金を張ったカバードゴールド。ブレスレットはビーズオブライス、クラスプナンバー1502とエンドリンク11を装備しています。

ケースは整ったコンディションで、目立つ傷はありません。サイドやラグのエッジも際立っており、シャープな印象を保っています。ダイヤルは、ほんのわずかにエイジングが見られ、シャンパンゴールドの落ち着いた色合いへと変化しています。針は小傷がわずかにありますが、輝きを失わず良好な状態です。インデックスはくすみや傷がなく、経年を感じさせないクリアなコンディションを維持しています。ブレスレットは固定リンク6-9個で、発売当時のテーパーです。弊社にて分解掃除済みです。

1960年代に入り、日付表示を搭載したモデルが主流となる中で、シーマスター二型ケースを採用したノーデイトモデルである、Ref.14779やRef.165.010は、生産数が少ないです。自動巻きで精度も優れ、実用性とヴィンテージの魅力を兼ね備えた一品です。弊社ではRef.165.010やRef.166.010を数多く取り扱ってきましたが、このダイヤルは初です。宙に浮いたインデックスはこのダイヤル専用のデザインで、幅が狭く、より繊細な表情を見せています。ミニッツマーカーを省いたミニマルな意匠は、状態の良さも相まって、透明感のある独特な雰囲気を醸し出している一品です。

The Ref. 165.010 is the no-date version of the Ref. 166.010, a model that can be considered the ultimate form of the Seamaster. It features a vintage-inspired dial with a raised center, bar indices, and dauphine hands, blending classic design elements. While many examples of this reference feature an onyx-style dial with black accents between the hands and indices, this particular piece opts for a simpler aesthetic. The case has been refined to a thinner profile, making it well-suited for Japanese wrist sizes. Crafted from stainless steel with a thick gold cap—a technique challenging to achieve with plated steel—it maintains a luxurious appearance. The bracelet is a beads-of-rice style, equipped with clasp number 1502 and end links marked 11.

The case is in well-preserved condition with no notable scratches. The edges of the case sides and lugs remain sharp, retaining a crisp profile. The dial has developed a subtle aging effect, shifting to an elegant champagne gold tone. The hands show only minor surface wear, maintaining their luster. The indices are free from tarnishing or damage, preserving a remarkably clear condition. The bracelet maintains its original taper, with six to nine fixed links. The watch has been disassembled and serviced by our company.

As the 1960s progressed, date-display models became the norm, making no-date Seamaster models like the Ref. 14779 and Ref. 165.010 relatively scarce. This piece offers both the precision of an automatic movement and the enduring appeal of vintage design. Notably, this example features a minimalist dial without minute markers, a rare variation that, combined with its excellent condition, gives it a striking sense of clarity. While we have handled many examples of the Ref. 165.010 and Ref. 166.010, this is the first time we have encountered this particular dial variation. The floating indices, unique to this dial design, are narrower than usual, creating an especially delicate aesthetic.
