COMMENT

脂がのり始めた頃の1950年代中期のシーマスター。ダイヤルはシルバーのサンレイ仕上げ。ノンデイトモデルは使い勝手が良い上に、フェイスが左右対称のシンメトリーデザインとなり人気です。針はセンターに夜光塗料を配したドルフィン、インデックスは多面カットで実用性とエレガンスを兼ね備えています。インデックスは12時位置のみ斜めに重ねたもので、ハートのようにも見えてどことなくチャーミングです。ケースは1948年のシーマスター誕生の時から採用されてきたシーマスター1型。肉厚なラグと頑強なケースが魅力です。

ケースはプロポーションが良いです。小傷は少なく、ラグのエッジにある小さな面が残っています。ケースバックのシーホース、リューズのエッジが立っています。ダイアルはミントです。針は経年変化が現れています。所々フェードしており、光はしっかりと反射します。インデックスはメッキの剥がれがなく、エイジングはありません。針夜光、インデックス夜光は最高のベージュ焼けです。シルバーに統一されたダイアルに、ベージュカラーがよく映えます。

搭載Cal.471はオメガ初の両方向回転式自動巻きCal.470の後継ムーブで、半回転自動巻きキャリバーから全回転式に変わった初期のころのキャリバーです。耐震装置、チラネジテンプ、石数も20に増やされており、精度や耐久性を追求していた時代が見て取れます。また、400番台は生産数が少なく希少性の高い歴史的価値のあるキャリバーです。スイッチングロッカー特有のキチキチ音がまた小気味良く、音でも楽しませてくれる逸品です。

COMMENT

This mid-1950s Seamaster represents the era when the watch's luster was just beginning to emerge. The dial features a silver sunburst finish, and the absence of a date complication enhances its user-friendly and symmetrical design, a popular choice. The dauphine-shaped hands with luminous paint at the center, and the multi-faceted cut indices, combine practicality with elegance. The indices are uniquely arranged diagonally at the 12 o'clock position, forming a charming heart-like pattern. The case follows the design of the original Seamaster 1, adopted since the birth of the Seamaster in 1948, characterized by robust lugs and a sturdy case.

The case exhibits excellent proportions, with minimal scratches and small facets remaining on the edges of the lugs. The Seahorse on the case back and the edges of the crown are distinct. The dial is in mint condition. The hands show signs of aging, displaying faded areas that reflect light effectively. The indices have no visible plating wear, and there is no aging. The luminous paint on the hands and indices has a superb beige patina. The beige color complements the uniformly silver dial beautifully.

The Caliber 471 inside is the successor to Omega's first bidirectional automatic movement, the Caliber 470. This movement transitioned from semi-automatic winding to full automatic winding in its early days, featuring advancements like shock resistance, swan neck regulation, and an increased jewel count to 20. The 400 series movements are known for their rarity and historical significance. The switching rocker's distinctive click is both satisfying and adds an auditory element to this exceptional timepiece.
