COMMENT

オメガの角型ムーブメントT17を搭載したレクタンギュラーモデル。オメガの中で種類の少ない角型ムーブメントの1つ、T17は30年代らしい古典的なムーブメントです。銀色メッキの受け、オーバーコイルに温度補正用の切りテンプと繊細な技術が詰まっています。アンクルの形が変わっており、狭い機械に収める為のいびつな形状に、重心を安定させる工夫がなされています。

レトロモダンな雰囲気の漂うダイヤルは手が込んでいます。サークル状のミニッツトラックと、12.3.9のみ大きく配されたインデックスにより、アンバランスにさえ感じる凝縮感満載なユニークな意匠です。針はブルースチールのアルファ。オメガのレクタンギュラーケースの中でも、12時、6時方向のケース上面がフラットなものは、角度によって強く光を反射させパリッとした印象を感じます。腕に沿ってゆるくカーブした裏蓋は着け心地が良いです。

ダイヤルは1930年代という年式を考慮するとこの上ないコンディションです。ルーペでよく確認すると、全面に薄く経年変化が確認できますが、特に気にならない程度かと思われます。ブルースチールの針は3本とも発色良く残り、入水が少なかった経緯を感じます。当時稀少であった高級素材のステイブライトケースは、多数小傷がある状態ですが、2重のケースが当時のまま残っています。

弊社で分解掃除を済ませていますので、48時間以上のパワーリザーブ、日差+25秒程度を確認しています。世代が古くとも、きちんとした整備を施すことで、使用し易くなります。ただクラシックと言うだけでなく、どこかモダンな雰囲気の漂ったオメガはいかがでしょうか。

腕時計が普及し始めた1910年代から手巻き、自動巻と変遷を経て、クオーツ時計の開発によって機械式時計が衰退します。それ以前の1960年代に機械式腕時計はひとつのピークに達します。当時は日本でも三種の神器の一つだったオメガの時計。持つ人のステータスとなる高級品で、各メーカーが精度や防水性、耐久性など切磋琢磨し開発した時代。コストをかけて、より良い時計造りのためにしのぎを削っていました。

COMMENT

A rectangular model featuring Omega's T17 movement, a rare type of rectangular movement within Omega's lineup. The T17, with its classical characteristics, reflects the watchmaking style of the 1930s. It incorporates delicate craftsmanship, including a silver-plated escapement, an overcoil, and a temperature-compensating cut compensator. The peculiar shape of the balance cock, irregular to fit the narrow mechanism, demonstrates ingenuity to stabilize the center of gravity.

The dial emanates a retro-modern ambiance with intricate detailing. A circular minute track and oversized indices at 12, 3, and 9 o'clock create a uniquely condensed and slightly imbalanced design. The hands are in the alpha style with blue steel. Among Omega's rectangular cases, those with a flat upper surface at 12 and 6 o'clock reflect light strongly at different angles, providing a crisp impression. The gently curved case back that follows the wrist ensures comfortable wear.

Considering the vintage of the dial from the 1930s, its condition is exceptional. A slight aging effect is visible throughout when closely inspected with a loupe, but it is inconspicuous. The blue steel hands, all three of them, exhibit good color retention, suggesting minimal exposure to moisture. The scarce and luxurious Stabrite case, despite showing numerous small scratches, still retains the two-tier structure as it did in its original state.

Having undergone disassembly and cleaning by our company, the watch boasts a power reserve of over 48 hours, with a time deviation of approximately +25 seconds. Despite its age, proper maintenance has made it user-friendly. This Omega, exuding a classic yet somehow modern atmosphere, might be a compelling choice.

During the 1960s, before these advancements, mechanical wristwatches reached their peak. Omega, one of the Three Great Gods of Watches, was a status symbol in Japan, representing luxury and status. This era witnessed fierce competition among manufacturers striving for advancements in accuracy, waterproofing, durability, and overall watchmaking excellence.
