OMEGA SPEEDMASTER Ref.145.022 5th Transitional Model

COMMENT

Speedmaster Ref.145.022トランジショナルモデルです。4thモデルであるRef.145.012からの移行期に作られたもので、機械は5thのCal.861を搭載しているにも関わらず、Ωロゴがプリントではなく4thのアプライドです。1968年の数ヶ月間にのみ生産された稀有な個体です。下がり「r」のレター、スクエアエンドのセンターハンド、１段ステップした文字盤、ドットオーバー90仕様のベゼル、ツイストラグはこの年式ならではのオリジナリティ溢れるコンビネーションです。

ケースは多少の使用傷がありますがプロポーションが良く、ラグのエッジがよく残っています。ベゼルはフェードしたグレーでヴィンテージならではの表情に。ダイアルは、ほとんど気がつきませんがブラウン化があります。針やルミナスは程よくエイジングをし、ベゼルとのバランスが良いです。ブレスに伸びはありません。当店にてオーバーホール済みですので、ご購入後すぐお使いいただけます 。

Ref.145.022は1960年代後半から1990年代半ばまで製造されました。ロングセラーモデルが生まれる直前の、このような過渡期の個体はヴィンテージウォッチならではの面白さがあります。

今でこそ「Speedmasterイコール宇宙」という図式がすぐに浮かび上がりますが、当時は宇宙とは全く関係のない、純粋なモータースポーツ用の時計として誕生。また、スピードマスターは、ダイヤルではなく外周ベゼルにタキメーターを表示した世界で初めての時計と言われています。1959年、スピードマスターはマイナーチェンジをします。ベゼルがアルミニウムの黒色ベースとなり、針の形状がアロー針からアルファ針に変更されたことで、より視認性が高まっています。NASAは宇宙での過酷な環境にも耐えうる丈夫なクロノグラフを探しており、名だたる強豪に勝ったスピードマスターを公式時計として採用。その後1969年人類初の月面着陸の際、スピードマスターを着用していたことは有名な話。

This is the Speedmaster Ref.145.022 Transitional Model, transitioning from the 4th model Ref.145.012 to the 5th model, despite being equipped with the 5th model's Cal.861 movement, it retains the applied Omega logo instead of the printed one. It's a rare piece produced only for a few months in 1968. The lowercase "r" letter, square-end central hand, stepped dial, dot-over-90 bezel, and twisted lugs are unique features of this model year, adding to its originality.

The case shows some signs of use but retains good proportions, with the lug edges well preserved. The bezel has a faded grey appearance, characteristic of vintage pieces. The dial shows slight aging with a brownish hue, hardly noticeable. The hands and luminescent material have aged gracefully, balancing well with the bezel. There is no stretching on the bracelet. It has been overhauled in our store, so you can use it immediately after purchase.

The Ref.145.022 was produced from the late 1960s to the mid-1990s. These transitional pieces just before the birth of the long-selling model have a unique charm typical of vintage watches.

BRAND

While today the equation "Speedmaster equals space" quickly comes to mind, back then it was born as a pure motorsport watch with no connection to space whatsoever. Additionally, the Speedmaster is said to be the world's first watch to display a tachymeter on the outer bezel instead of the dial. In 1959, the Speedmaster underwent a minor change, transitioning to a black aluminum base for the bezel and changing the shape of the hands from arrow to alpha style, improving visibility. NASA was in search of a durable chronograph capable of withstanding the harsh conditions of space and chose the Speedmaster after it outperformed numerous competitors. The famous story of the Speedmaster being worn during the first manned moon landing in 1969 further solidified its status as the official watch for space exploration.
