RECORD Black Gilt Dial

COMMENT

1940年代製造のレコード。造り込みの良いケースとダイヤル、そしてムーブメントです。ケースはラグと一体のカラトラバタイプ。ブラックミラーダイヤルにアラビアインデックスとミリタリーライクでありながら、夜光塗料を配さないスポーツウォッチとも決めきれない時計です。印字は全てギルトです。針はソリッドなペンシルハンドです。

ケースは素晴らしいプロポーションです。ラグのカッティングはエッジをよく残し、傷が少なくパリッとしています。ダイヤルは半分ほどでしょうか、艶をのこした良いエイジングです。経年変化が全体に均一で、程よいヴィンテージテイストです。針にエイジングは、ほぼ見られません。ギルトのインデックス同様に、美しく光を反射します。弊社にて分解掃除済です。

80年近く前の時計とはとても信じられない輝きを感じます。当時のスポーツ、ドレスのどちらにも振り切らない、ちょうど良い塩梅のデザインです。黒金のフェイスはで一見ハードな印象を受けますが、スモールセコンドやミッドサイズのケース等、細部にヴィンテージウォッチならではの意匠が敷き詰められており、品よく纏められています。

スイスの老舗メーカー＜RECORD（レコード）＞社。1899年、Record Dreadnought Watch CompanyはスイスのGeneva（ジュネーブ）に誕生。後に、＜Tramelan（トラメーラン）＞に主要なボランチを置いたことから、スイスでは＜Tramelan＞のウォッチメーカーとしても知られています。同社は「正確な時計」を“看板”とするために販売後の対応、修理に徹底してこだわりました。時計部品の製造やストックを積極的に進め、同社製品に修理が必要となった際には迅速な部品交換を可能とする体制を整えたのです。1920年代の中頃までに時計の製造と共に、アフターサービスも行う「ワークショップ」をスイス国内3ケ所に設けていました。この取り組みにより＜RECORD＞社は自社製品にいち早くギャランティ（品質保証）を持たせています。

COMMENT

A Record timepiece manufactured in the 1940s showcases an incredible level of craftsmanship in both the case and dial, a testament to its enduring quality nearly 80 years later. The case features an integrated lug in the style of a Calatrava type. The black mirror dial, adorned with Arabic numerals and military-like aesthetics, presents a watch that defies categorization as either a sports or dress watch, particularly with its lack of luminescent coating. All dial prints are gilt, offering a reflective quality reminiscent of plating. The hands are solid pencil-style.

The case boasts impeccable proportions, with well-preserved edges on the cut lug, minimal scratches, and a crisp appearance. The dial has aged gracefully with a semi-gloss finish, exhibiting uniform aging throughout for a perfectly balanced vintage feel. There is minimal aging visible on the hands, which, like the gilt indexes, beautifully reflect light. The watch has undergone disassembly and cleaning by our company.

This timepiece, from an era when designs did not strictly adhere to either sports or dress categories, strikes a perfect balance. While the black-gold face may initially give a robust impression, details such as the small seconds and mid-sized case reveal vintage watch nuances, elegantly tying everything together.

Record, a venerable Swiss manufacturer, was established in 1899 as the Record Dreadnought Watch Company in Geneva, Switzerland. Later, with a significant branch in Tramelan, the brand became known as a watchmaker from Tramelan in Switzerland. The company prioritized post-sales support and repairs to uphold its reputation for "accurate timepieces." Actively engaging in the manufacturing and stocking of watch components, Record established workshops in three locations across Switzerland by the mid-1920s, providing both watchmaking and after-sales services. This dedication allowed Record to offer a swift guarantee (quality assurance) for its products, distinguishing it in the industry.
