OMEGA ref.2639

COMMENT

COMMENT

A prime example of the Small Seconds 30mm caliber, this timepiece, featuring the matured cal.265, stands out in the historical lineage. It incorporates the Inca-Block shock protection system. When viewed from the side, the lugs seamlessly integrate with the case and exhibit a subtle twist, a characteristic that intensifies with each passing year. The dial showcases a stunning bullseye pattern, a rarity where the black mirror extends beyond the center to the outer edges, creating a captivating effect.

The case maintains a clean edge on the bezel and lugs, showcasing some scratches in untouched condition. The dial is a masterpiece, exuding the fresh vibrancy of the original release and effectively emphasizing the power of the bullseye pattern. The natural aging of the luminous material adds a vintage touch, embodying the characteristic charm of vintage watches. Having undergone maintenance at our shop, this watch has been tested post-overhaul, confirming a power reserve of 41 hours. Consider this well-functioning timepiece for your collection.

Equipped with the iconic Cal.30 series, particularly the representative Cal.30T2, introduced in 1939, this caliber, with a movement diameter of 30mm, was a simple yet superior mechanism designed to achieve high precision by accommodating a large balance wheel. After Omega unveiled this movement, it significantly influenced other manufacturers, leading to the homage of calibers with the same diameter and substantial balance wheels. The "SC" designation denotes a center seconds hand.
