JAEGER LECOULTRE Ref.4442 Linen Dial

COMMENT

HIGHLIGHTH

Linen Dial

COMMENT

The Jaeger-LeCoultre Ref.4442, renowned for its craftsmanship in square dress watches, including the iconic Reverso series. The square case is crafted from 18k solid white gold. The linen dial, changing expressions with the viewing angle, adds richness to the timepiece. The sunburst finish, resembling linen fabric, enhances its aesthetic appeal. The narrow bar indices and baton hands, a typical face of this model, emphasize the excellence of the case design and dial finish. It houses the ultra-thin Cal.838 movement, measuring a mere 1.85mm in thickness, providing stable precision and enabling the realization of a slim case, characteristic of dress watches.

The case boasts exceptional proportions without any signs of thinning. Few scratches are visible, and the serial number engraved on the case back remains deep and clear. Aging is observed in the corners of the dial, adding a vintage touch. Considering its non-water-resistant nature typical of that era, the overall condition is commendable. The hands and applied logo show no signs of plating wear on the upper surface, shimmering brightly. It has been serviced by our experts, and a power reserve of 46 hours has been confirmed. A video is available for a closer look.

In the late 1960s, as mechanical watches reached their pinnacle, the world of exterior design expanded into a realm of soft sensibilities, introducing new decorative elements. The textured dial proposed by the prestigious LeCoultre during this period was a bold expression that could be considered futuristic and undoubtedly highly cherished.
