ROLEX DAY-DATE Ref.1803G 10 Point Diamond

COMMENT

COMMENT

This Day-Date from 1977 represents the pinnacle of mechanical watchmaking. Exclusively offered in gold and platinum, the Day-Date was the first waterproof chronometer watch to feature an automatic movement with both date and day display, when introduced in 1956. The 18K solid gold Oyster case with its fluted bezel shines beautifully, exuding a sense of substantiality. The dial, with its typical sunray finish, highlights the quality of the materials through its simple yet elegant design. While the later Ref. 18038 commonly features 10 diamond hour markers, they are rare in this four-digit generation, making this piece particularly precious. It comes equipped with the iconic President bracelet.

The case is in excellent condition, showing hardly any scratches and maintaining its proportions beautifully. The lugs are exceptionally long, with the hallmark on the back of the 2 o'clock lug clearly visible—a notable detail. The dial is in perfect condition, with no flaws visible even under high magnification, retaining its original finishing magnificently. The hands and indices, with their mirror finish, shine brilliantly. The intact, beige-colored lume dots are a significant highlight. The bracelet shows no signs of wear and maintains its pristine condition. This watch has been serviced by us, and the power reserve exceeds 48 hours.

This is the top-tier model from Rolex. The fluid lines, the heft of the gold, and the compelling design are hallmarks of this king of brands. While sports models are highly sought after today, the Day-Date remains the ultimate status watch. It was famously presented to the 35th President of the United States, Dwight D. Eisenhower, and continues to hold its place as the epitome of status watches.
