COMMENT

ケースは程よい厚みを持つステンレススチール製で、ラグに稜線を効かせたシルエットが立体感を際立たせています。裏蓋には探検隊を象徴するコンティキ号のエングレーヴィングが刻まれており、冒険の精神を反映した意匠となっています。ブラックミラーダイヤルの中央にはパールミニッツを配し、外周にはバーインデックスを基調とした端正な構成が見られます。特に3・6・9・12時位置には大型のトライアングルインデックスが置かれ、コンティキを象徴する独自のデザインコードを形成しています。ドーフィンハンドで、その大部分に夜光塗料が施されており、力強い視認性を確保しています。

Eterna-Matic「KonTiki」ファーストモデルのノンデイト仕様。1947年のコンティキ号探検に由来して誕生したエテルナの代表作の初期型にあたります。厳しい航海に耐えうる防水性能と堅牢な設計を背景に、1958年にリリースされたファーストジェネレーションは、実用時計と探検の歴史を結びつけた象徴的な存在です。ノンデイト仕様の初期モデルは製造数が限られ、後年のバリエーションに比べても希少性が高く、コレクション価値の際立つ一本です。

COMMENT

The lugs are defined by sharp ridgelines that accentuate their three-dimensional presence, while their seamless connection creates a fluid silhouette. At the center of the black mirror dial lies a pearl minute track, framed by a disciplined arrangement of baton indexes. At 3, 6, 9, and 12 o’clock, bold triangular markers form a distinctive design code that has come to symbolize the KonTiki. Dauphine hands, heavily filled with luminous material, provide strong legibility.

This example represents the first-generation, no-date version of the Eterna-Matic “KonTiki.” Introduced in 1958 and inspired by the 1947 KonTiki expedition, the model embodies Eterna’s pioneering spirit, combining robust waterproof construction with reliable engineering. Early no-date versions of the KonTiki were produced in smaller numbers, making them rarer than later variations and underscoring their enduring appeal and significance for collectors.
