国産初の10振動の自動巻モデル61GSです。ケースサイドは丸みのあるシェイプを描いていますが、上面やラグの先端にはカッティングを施した秀逸な意匠です。ダイヤルはシルバーの繊細なサンレイ仕上げ、針とインデックスには上面にブラックを配することで、読時性能が向上します。ケースはスレンレスに260ミクロンの金張りを施したキャップゴールド製。

ダイヤルは全体としてクリーンな状態を維持しており、シルバーの光沢を放っています。サンレイの質感は均一で、針はメッキの剥離がなくエッジの輪郭が保たれています。インデックスは上部のプリントが欠けること無く維持しており、ブラックの艶感が視認性を支えています。ケースはラグやベゼルの面構成は崩れておらず、フォルムが明確に残っています。裏蓋の刻印は鮮明で、GSメダリオンが立体感を維持しています。弊社にて分解清掃済みです。

日本が世界に誇る時計ブランド＜SEIKO(セイコー)＞。1960年代は、機械式腕時計は完成期とも言えるほどの発展を遂げた時期で、セイコーは精度コンクールの分野でも量産の分野でも、世界に追いつき、追いぬいた時代でした。同時に、「時計の電子化」が進展し、1969年12月にセイコーが世界初のクオーツ腕時計を発売することにより、機械式腕時計からクオーツ腕時計へと大きく舵を切ろうとする時期でもありました。 

COMMENT

The 61GS represents Japan’s first 36,000 vibrations-per-hour automatic model. While the case sides flow in a rounded silhouette, the upper surfaces and lug tips are sharply faceted, demonstrating a sophisticated interplay between curvature and precise cutting. The dial features a finely executed silver sunburst finish. Hands and indexes are treated with black on their upper surfaces, enhancing legibility through contrast. The case is constructed in stainless steel with a 260-micron gold-capped finish.

The dial remains clean overall, retaining its silvery luster. The sunburst texture is even, and the hands show no plating loss, with crisp edge definition intact. The printed surfaces atop the indexes are complete, and the gloss of the black accents continues to support clarity. The case geometry is well preserved, with the lug planes and bezel facets clearly defined. Caseback engravings are sharp, and the GS medallion retains its relief. Fully serviced by our watchmaker.

Grand Seiko is defined by restraint in design and precision in execution. Within the lineage, the automatic 61GS holds a particularly important place as one of the most technically matured mechanical expressions of its era. Seiko is one of Japan’s most internationally respected watchmakers. During the 1960s, mechanical wristwatches reached a peak of development, and Seiko advanced rapidly in both chronometry competitions and large-scale production. At the same time, the brand led the transition toward electronic timekeeping with the introduction of the world’s first quartz wristwatch in December 1969, marking a pivotal moment in horological history.
