Ref.166.078のSeamasterは“Giant”の呼称が示す通り、存在感のある大型ケースを備えたモデルです。1970年代のデザインコードを色濃く反映し、ケース素材にはタングステン処理された鋼を採用しています。グレーダイヤルは縦ヘアライン仕上げ。ブラックプリントと夜光を配した針・インデックスで構成され、視認性を確保したレイアウトです。ムーブメントはCal.565を搭載し、日付の早送り機構を備えます。

ケースは打痕が確認できますが、オリジナルのエッジは残っています。ケース表面は細かな小傷が見られず、タングステン素材の特性が状態に反映されています。ケースサイドのリューズ横に小さな打痕が見られますが、小さなものです。ダイヤルは端正なコンディションを保っています。40分位置寄りの中央付近に小さなシミが一点見られますが、視認性を大きく損なうものではありません。針とインデックスは良いコンディションを保っています。弊社にて分解掃除済みです。

当時の“スペーシーデザイン”を象徴する造形に、硬質素材の実用性を組み合わせた一本です。大型ケースの迫力に対して、ヘアラインの入ったグレーダイヤルと立体インデックスが印象を整え、過度に派手に見せません。タングステンケースならではの扱いやすさと、オメガの成熟期に製造された機構が両立した内容です。

The Seamaster Ref.166.078, often referred to as the “Giant,” lives up to its name with a commanding oversized case. Strongly reflective of 1970s design language, it features a tungsten-treated steel case known for its exceptional hardness. The grey dial is finished with vertical brushing, paired with black printing and luminous hands and indexes to ensure clear legibility. Powering the watch is Cal.565, equipped with a quickset date function.

The case shows signs of impact, yet the original edges remain intact. The surface presents minimal fine scratching, characteristic of tungsten’s durability. A small dent is visible on the case side near the crown, though it is minor. The dial remains well preserved overall; a small spot is present near the center toward the 40-minute area, but it does not significantly affect legibility. The hands and indexes are in good condition. Fully serviced by our watchmaker.

This piece combines the era’s emblematic “space-age” aesthetic with the practicality of hardened material. Despite the imposing scale of the case, the vertically brushed grey dial and applied indexes provide visual balance, preventing it from appearing overly bold.
